Volume dropping & Monkeyflow error

Post by RodneyDekkers »

I'm experiencing two problems on Windows 7 64-bit. Both have been happening since the last few test versions.

1. After a few minutes of playing music, the volume suddenly drops to about 10%. The volume in MM stays the same, the master system volume stays the same, but when I check the Windows 7 Volume Mixer, I see that MM volume is set very low, relative to the other applications. I'm not even sure this is a MM problem, but I do know that MM is the only program giving me this problem. It seems to happen at the same time as my screen turning off to save power, but as far as I know Windows 7 has no power settings relating to volume...

-- EDIT: After some more tinkering I discovered the volume is lowered when the screen turns off, but only when Steam is running in the background. Unless anyone else can reproduce, I think this problem lies with Windows. --

2. I am aware this is no concern to the MM developers. However, the last 5 or so test versions throw an error when starting MM ("Error executing script event") when Monkeyflow is enabled. After clicking OK, both MM and Monkeyflow function fine. The older beta versions (about one month back I guess?) of MM4 never gave this error. The add-on is no longer maintained, but I know it's still used by a lot of people. I'm not sure what has been changed to the scripting engine to give this error, but maybe it would be possible to add an option to automatically ignore errors like these?

On a positive note, I do think MM4 is a great improvement and am looking forward to its final release!

I can reproduce Error 2. as RodneyDekkers listed. It happens when you first start/open MM and the error pops up. MF still works even if you don't click ok. I can't remember if it were happening for the last 5 builds, but certainly it was occuring for 1413, 1414 and now 1415. Ive sent a debug log as well.

1. By any chance are you using WASAPI output plugin? If yes, the DirectSound output plugin might solve this. Let us know--thx.

2. Thanks. Tracked at http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=8249

I can't seem to reproduce, my steps are:

1. Downloaded MonkeyFlow from here: http://www.mediamonkey.com/addons/brows ... -embedded/
2. Extracted MonkeyFlow.zip and copied MonkeyFlow.exe and MonkeyFlow.vbs into
C:/MediaMonkey/Scripts/Auto/
3. Run C:/MediaMonkey/MediaMonkey.exe

=> no error and the MonkeyFlow works like a charm

Should I do something different? (Win XP SP2, MM build 1419)

Hmm maybe it's a Windows 7 thing. I did send a debug log as well so use that to see if anythings wrong. Here's a pic of what happens on mine:

Maybe it's settings related I don't know but you could test this out. Here's my settings in the MediaMonkey ini file under roaming folder:

Tested also under Windows 7 and by using your [MonkeyFlow] settings and I still cannot replicate the error.

Could you find from which build it started so that I could see what change could cause this? And also debug log might show something.

Ok it took a while but with some trial and error I have found that the last working version is 1398. v1399 onwards have the error.
Hope that helps. Cheers Ludek for looking into this! :D

Could you please also send me a debug log of the problem? And, can you reproduce on a clean installation of MM having only this single script running?

Thanks,

Ive already sent in a debug log to the support team so you should have one. If you don't have it, then I can send another one in tomorrow. Yeh i can do a clean installation, I'll do it on a seperate computer (has same problem) and get back to you tomorrow on that.

I should note I'm using Monkeyflow 1.3 from this link: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=31402
This probably explains why you can't reproduce...

Thanks RodneyDekkers for pointing that one out, yeh it was the direct link of MonkeyFlow that I have too and I have tested that the link on the main website works fine. Also thanks Jiri for the update! :D
