White square graphical glitch [#6040]

Post by Zeus »

I've noticed this graphical oddity for a few versions (beta) of MM, and it's still there with the latest release.

Image

See that white square covering the vertical scroll bar? I can't get it to go away. Changing the skin a couple of times sometimes helps, for a while, but it always returns sooner or later.

I'm running WinXP SP3 with MediaMonkey Gold 3.1.0.1256

It's the Gilded skin. The problem comes and goes (last time it was there, this time it's not.) And the white block stays there, if I slide the slider up and down, it passes "under" the white block but does not follow it, so the white block is, like, the top layer, or something.

It's a known issue. Most of the time it appears only in scrollbars intersecting corner, no matter what skin you use.
Source of the problem: unknown to date. See this thread: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... =9&t=37300

Close & restart MM fixes it (sometimes).

one in the corner is the part of the skin that is to be there.
its called the NC area = Not Covered, Corner it can be changed in color
to match the skin.

the one on the slider in that image looks like the glyph but it might be a ghost of the nc area.

not sure why it happens i've never seen it.

pm morten and see if he can rebuild gilded now since mm 3.1 is stable that might fix it if it is
the glyph area. 8)

I'm seeing this now, and I'm using the skin Blue Glass.

It's always in the same location, just above the bottom of the scroll area as depicted in the screenshot in the first post. The scroll button doesn't have to be on it, it's just a white spot. So.. I don't believe it's related to the skin, and it's only started appearing for me in the last betas up until release 3.1.0.1256 and still exists.

well as i said the one in the screen shot on the slider image is the same size and location of the glyph image that is used on the sliders so on large scrolls the slider image will shrink to a state of too small to click on. the glyph will not change size.

so that could be just a white image used on the glyph code.
and would have to be fixed by the skinner.

if the person that did the skinning just added a white image in the code for that bitmap they will have to remove that image.

but if the image you see does not move with the slider then i'm still going to say it has to be a ghost of the nc area image. :-?

Weird, I'm using the "Gilded" skin, so I guess it affects both of them.

I hear what you're saying, but it begs the question why this "bug" suddenly appeared in the most recent betas and release version and why it's occuring across it seems multiple skins.

I reported this bug in another thread (http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... 3&p=188059) but nobody showed interest in it ... It first appeared after I installed a beta version of 3.1, it never appeared in 3.0. One thing I noticed is that this white square only appears if I close MediaMonkey in the the tray bar (MediaMonkey is minimized). If I maximize MediaMonkey and close it by using file/exit, then it doesn't appear the next time I start MediaMonkey. Here are two screenshots I posted in the old thread:

I hope this will be fixed.

Yup, that's basically identical to what I'm seeing.

It does come and go based on the skin being used, but I believe Blue Glass comes with the base MM install correct?

Personally, I can live with the glitch because I like this skin over others. However, I ponder why a skin that comes with MM is somehow broken by a change made in the late 3.1 betas. That or if someone could clarify why these are breaking so we could go in and fix the skins would be most helpful.

Either way, I'll live with it if there's no solution.

rovingcowboy, I think we are all using one of the default skins. Shouldn't they be updated automatically? This bug is really strange as it occurs randomly :( ...

This is not due to the skin, its a bug in the MM theming.
