On MM version 3.2.0.1294 on WinXP SP3, the UI hangs if I select "Rip Audio CD..." before the track list is shown.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Insert CD
2. Wait for CD drive letter to appear in left-hand list
3. Select suitable entry from freedb dialog, if necessary
4. Right-click on CD drive letter in left-hand list
5. Before track list is displayed in main panel, select "Rip Audio CD..."
6. UI has now hung - have to kill process in taskmanager.

Forgot to mention that in step 6 it sometimes works ok and does not hang. But most of the time (for me, anyway) it does hang.

Check out these KB articles: http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... id=0&nav=0 might contain a solution, otherwise a debug log (as described in the Bug Report forum) might be useful.

Re: UI hangs when selecting "Rip Audio CD" before tracks listed
I managed to reproduce the same problem using the debug version of MM (it was much harder ... took 10-15 attempts to get it to hang), but I got a debug file using DbgView as mentioned in the "how to submit a bug" thread.
I've created a support ticket and uploaded to debug log so, hopefully, they will be able to fix this in the next release
Cheers,
Scott

Re: UI hangs when selecting "Rip Audio CD" before tracks listed
one thing to remember that mm 2 use to lock when doing tons of background stuff. it looked like it froze but when he was finished he unlocked. now if mm 3 is doing this i don't know but he could be doing the same thing of locking for large amounts of background stuff, and from searching online he is doing lots of things.
then also you have the isp issues to consider they might be over loaded and their servers temp... crash which will cut the lowest powered computers connected to them off. just like when pent 3's first came on the scene the isps were cutting the slower dialup links in favor of the faster dsl and cable modem pent 3 connections. same cpu on both now but they were not liking the dial up connetion. that has been stopped for the most part some still do it.
so that can be a reason for the locking of the system if that is the case then your either not going to get reconneted at all in which case you will need to reboot your system or disconnect and reconnect to the net,
or it will take a long time for the computer to reconect to the server.
i still get that on my dial up even with dual core cpu's.
still the easiest thing to fix is a bug in mediamonkey so this time i hope it is a bug in monkey and your report can show them how to fix it.

Re: UI hangs when selecting "Rip Audio CD" before tracks listed
I have this problem too. I had just purchased the gold so that I could rip CDs, but after a dozen added to my collection the mediamonkey now hangs on every CD ripping request. It destabilizes the system, and hangs the control panel. I don't have a new enough system for that ACHI fix link. I tried any adjustments to the bios that I could find. Look, it doesn't work AT ALL. And iTunes is free and works perfectly. Come on, I want to support the little guy, but there appear to be reports of this problem for over a year. I mean what else is it good for? I need two things, rip CDs and play back songs. That's really it. It there a date to release a fix? Can I have my money back please? I read the software agreement and I guess I already used the software, so too bad? If it's worth anything, it appeared to start happening after one of those crap SONY CD artists preinstalled some of their DRM viruses on there. Once again, no problem with iTunes.
Re: UI hangs when selecting "Rip Audio CD" before tracks listed
iridi,
First I would like to thank you for supporting MM.
For money back you should create sales support ticket, for most of other thing you should use search button on forum especially if you are referring to this problem in Free version and for those Sony CDs I think that Sony released app that cleans their stuff off the PC and think they were legally forced to replace CD or supply you non protected files.
Finally, an debug log like Lowlander and sdmoore said a debug log would be most than valuable and we will be more than glad to look at them.
