Changed title not reflected on another MM on network

I have two computers on a network. One of them has all the music files and shares them. It's the "master" computer where I maintain the tags. Both computers run MM (on XP). When I make a change to a track (e.g., title or cover art), how do I get that change reflected on the other computer's MM? I've tried rescanning the library, but that doesn't do it. I don't want to delete all the tracks and re-add them because (1) I'll lose the playlists, and (2) it's tedious.

What am I missing?

Similarly(?), I use Juice to download podcasts. I'd like to use MM to automatically watch the folder and add them to the library. Unfortunately, if I do that, MM thinks all the podcasts are zero bytes and zero seconds long. Apparently, it "sees" the track begin to download (zero bytes) and doesn't bother to update its info after it's done. Same issue?

are you using the same database file on both pcs?
in that case the information should be updated
at least after hitting the F5 key.

Sorry, I should've specified: no, I'm using different databases on each computer because I don't want my kids changing my ratings.

Is there an "official" way to get MM to re-read the tags from the actual MP3 files? This would also help when I might not want to "synchronize" my db with the tags--I just want to have the db reflect the tags themselves.

So, File Monitor won't work for me (until it's willing to update the files it finds after they've finished downloading).

Your file update issue can (at least it should work) be solved by doing the following.

- On the machine you update files you need to make sure that Update Tags Immediately After Editing Properties and Modify Timestamp when Updating Tags are selected. This will update the tags in the files with the changes you make.
- To make sure all tracks tags are updated you can use the Files to Edit > Unsynchronized Tags node, select all files listed and use Tools > Advanced Tag Management > Synchronize Tags on the machine you use to update tags.

You will need to write tags to the tracks on the machine you make updates for the other machine to see these updates.

- On the other machine you can set up the File Monitor to automatically scan for changes on startup and while running MediaMonkey or you can change the following settings. Select the Update Track info from Tags when re-adding Files option. You can select the option Only for Files with changed TimeStamp as your other machine modifies the time stamp when making updates.

I already do all of those things, except for

I was hoping I could avoid having to re-scan my 10,000-ish tracks over an 802.11g network every time I start MM on the other machine. Oh well.
