I've waited too long, I've tried "River Media Center 12

Hi all. I'm a lifetime subscriber, and I've waited too long for some new version. I've tried the MM3 alpha, but that's not very convincing. The skins and the features are just disappointing. Lately I've discovered River MC12 and frankly its lack of auto-tagging feautre is the only thing that keep me from switching. From its skins (Moire), its ergonomic to its feature, everything about it is really impressive. So here is my wishlist :

* When I choose wich column to display, I would like to be able to click several times before the menu is closed. Having to open the menu and search the item for each column to add/remove is just too annoying. Please, use a sticky menu.

* Add a "small thumbnail" column. That might be display before the song name, for example.

* I would like to be able to create my own list-tree. That would be similar to an auto-playlist, but hierarchical.

* Thumbnail navigation for real !

* Cleaner skins. Well, that's a matter of taste, but a really don't like the brushed-metal look, and none of the new skins coming along MM3 are nice. They are too much *there*.

You should really have a look at River MC, that's a really good peace of software. I'm looking forward for MM3, but after more than 8 months waiting for an update, I'm really afraid to be disappointed.

well sorry about that the skins are being made.

but remember its alpha and all but 3 of my skins work in
alpha 6 or 7. they all worked fine in alpha 5.

yes there are others making skins but i recon they got the same plum errors in theirs i am in mine. i'm waiting on the next

test version to see if it fixed the skins or if i can figure out how
to fix them. the long time is not too bad we are getting the bug worked out of it. do you know it took river a year to get the media center ready. so 8 months is not bad.
i won't use anyother one now its only the media monkey player for me.

@rovingcowboy: Sorry for complaining, as a designer myself I know all the time and work it takes. If I could figure how to create a skin, I'll get involve instead of stupidly complaining.

I couldn't live without MediaMonkey too, and I've installed on all my friends PCs, it's just that a big update would nice

BTW : I've just been banished form River's forum because I was talking about MediaMonkey and its 'auto-tag from Amazon' feature. This is really sad, now I won't certainly not give any money to them.

Anyway I'm sure that RC and few others are more than willing to help you in learning. Who knows maybe you can also contribute like Morten to MM skinning (in giving us headaches and things to work on).

BTW: Should I ban you from forum as you spread words about River MC? Think not if you make skin or at least try Welcome back.

i gave up on iriver in version 8. they kept allowing us to create
av effects. but they would change the way they were coded every update.
then they never posted any of the users effects for download.
and they insisted on you sending them to one person in the dev team.
i believe he trashed them.

i did 3 sets for 3 versions and gave up at v. 8 and never went
back to the forum after i said enough was enough.

i've been hounding them on other forums for what they did.
and i use to be totaly for their jukebox program.

if all they did was kept changing the way they coded the av effects and making bad errors in the new versions of their jukebox.
i would not have started hounding them. but to toss the user av's out? or shelf them never to be seen again? well you see where i been the last 4 years.

they can take that media center and stuff it full of all kinds of free features but i'll not take it even if they server it to me on a silver platter.
? um now the platter might be worth something so i'll take that.

you got the right to complain i was not saying anything was wrong with your post.

as for the help needed for skinning look in the bottom of any of steegys messages and click on his link to skinning page at the monkeys wiki there are several ways to learn there.

i did a fast one for newbies to mm 3 and i did a convert 2.5 to mm 3 (but there's peke's templete also for that ) and i made one to tell you how to make an mm 2.5 skin. [but that is really long and hard to do for a newbie]
then if your the kind that needs lots of detail to start with
you can look at mortens heavy detailed lesson and his walkthrough. he's been making adjustments to it each time
the need arises so it should be very detailed by now.

then after reading all that. remember the mm 3 is in alpha version and the skinning can and does change a little each time.

i hope they get it fixed again to have 3 of my skins show up like they did in alpha 5. they been messed up in 6 and 7.

the one that is messed up is the one in the convert mm 2, skin to mm 3 skin. i think peke's templete way still works.
