Upload current song via ftp to server
Upload current song via ftp to server
is there a plugin that can do this? i previously used 'currently hearing' but it doesn't seem to work on mm3 and the developers site appears to be dead.
also, 'do something' doesn't seem to work properly with mm3 either...
i've no idea how to write scripts for mm3 (else i'd try myself) but i'd like something that could simply upload, via ftp, a simple php file with the following contents (or similar):
$title = xxxx
$artist = xxxx
$year = xxxx
$album = xxxx
i can then create a php page that can include this file and use the values in my own 'currently listening to' page.
any ideas?!
thanks in advance script monkeys!

That is easy
This is how I see the problem.
There is two states of MediaMonkey Application 1. Started and 2. Closed.
Using that you handle Started one you have three states of Internal MM player 1. Playing, 2. Paused and 3. Stopped/Not Playing written to TEXT File
$player = xxxx (Playing, Paused, Stopped, Closed)
Now we have Statistics
1. Currently playing song
Written to TEXT File like this:
$title = xxxx
$artist = xxxx
$year = xxxx
$album = xxxx
2. Last Five played Songs
$last1title = xxxx
$last1artist = xxxx
$last1year = xxxx
$last1album = xxxx
$last1Played = <Date Time Last Played>
$last2title = xxxx
$last2artist = xxxx
$last2year = xxxx
$last2album = xxxx
$last2Played = <Date Time Last Played>
....
$last5title = xxxx
$last5artist = xxxx
$last5year = xxxx
$last5album = xxxx
$last5Played = <Date Time Last Played>
3. List of next 5 songs in MM:
$next1title = xxxx
$next1artist = xxxx
$next1year = xxxx
$next1album = xxxx
$next2title = xxxx
$next2artist = xxxx
$next2year = xxxx
$next2album = xxxx
....
$next5title = xxxx
$next5artist = xxxx
$next5year = xxxx
$next5album = xxxx
In MM Scripting we can use OnAdd Event to update TEXT file in case Next is changed, OnPlay when new track is played, OnShutdown to set TEXT File Values to correct one.
PHP should read Values from TEXT Files and use them on Demand.
Reason why I pu it this way as i want to separate MM Process thread and PHP (Server) which will result in better CPU organization and will be more stable in case one of them get crashed, also you can make that TEXT File Is submitted to Online Server under User Name and Password to have online Statistics/Database, .......
I hope I helped you a little, if not ask more.

like i said, i'm totally new to this stuff!
is there a guide to writing scripts for mm? or am i being too hopeful?!
i agree though, that the php script will be fine reading variables from a text file. i would just need to be able to upload the text file via ftp - can this be done within a MM script or would i have to use another program?

I could make you a script that writes TEXT File, There is lots of other Scripters that uses HTML Window and integrate it into MediaMonkey (Pretty Pictures, ScrobblerDJ, ...) that can be used to fill online Form and send MM data. That way you/we can make things without text file.
Mediamonkey support two of scripting JScript (java Script) and VBScript (Windows Scripting Host), you can look here
For Help or
MM Wiki

Others?

I don't mind taking a look at this for you. I've not tried it before but I've found a sample script for FTP stuff so as long as that works then it shouldn't be too hard to do (he says optimistically!)
Download my scripts at my own MediaMonkey fansite.

It looks that what you need is

I'll see what exactly you need but this is something that we can use.

Here is another one with example so combining two of those can result in right stuff.
Trix am I right? (Haven't been able to fully test but it should work)

Well I think that these tutorials help with learning VBScript but not with this problem. The user wants their current playing song to be displayed on their website. For this to happen the information needs to be sent from MM (using OnPlay, OnStop and OnShutdown events) to the webserver (using FTP seems logical) so that the webserver can incorporate the information into a page.

Trix those examples show how to use VBS to fill online forms. Current song is easy to get only thing I'm missing is end server that will get submitted form and mm Script that will send values thru (hopefully using those examples) server.
