HeistMonkey,

I'm Glad that I'm not the only one that think this way. In 99% Windows (XP SP2) load of default drivers make any keyboard to be recognized and it is made according to Windows SDK it will work. This conclusion gave me impression that keyboard drivers are only GUI representation of drivers that Windows already have as RAW Input codes which will be/is major compatibility problem. In this case more universal approach should be used, but that's another Topic.

SetPoint is mouse software. I'm a bit confused as I have SetPoint II and there's no such file. I still have the older version that I haven't removed yet and it has this file. But as I noted, the G15 doesn't use SetPoint at all.

Logitech joined SetPoint due to wireless Keyboard+mouse Kits. So it is used for Keyboards and mouses together Icon Will Show you what settings you can change according to device IDs but App is same.

FYI, it may have worked that way with the first SetPoint but I don't think it's that way any longer.

The new SetPoint ONLY shows my G9 mouse as a selectable Logitech Device.

This new SetPoint is a complete re-write of the original and is now getting interesting.

Hi all, I'm new on this forum but I've always been a huge mediamonkey fan!

Since yesterday I got me a new keyboard. It's the Logitech Cordless Wave desktop set. On my main OS (Windows Vista 64bit), mediakeys wouldnt work on both mediamonkey v2.5 and v3, when I installed the logitech drivers yesterday.

So I started my mission to find a solution. Thats when I came here and saw the edits required for the setpoint 4.0 software (players.ini)...Still no luck. Eventually after alot of trying I gave up and went to bed.

Today I started again with a clear mind and thought: hey let's see if it works on my 2nd OS (Windows XP 32bit). I booted to XP and was surprised to see the mediakeys work in both mediamonkey 2.5 and 3 without any drivers installed. But since I do wanna use the setpoint software for other shortkeys I had to try the setpoint software/driver too, so I installed the setpoint software on XP. At first the multimedia keys didnt work, but with the adjustments to players.ini everything worked really smooth! (even my asus DH remote control was able to control mediamonkey)

So my question is: why wont multimedia keys work in Vista 64bit (don't know bout Vista 32bit), and how can I get them to work?

Thanks in advance everyone (Peke? :p)

p.s. And yes mediamonkey is registered as default program for all filetypes, and at "Set program access and computer defaults" it is set as default mediaplayer (although when you click ok and re-enter the menu it says: Use my current mediaplayer).

EDIT: ok nvm, i fixed it myself...although i dont really know how....it seemed to be fixed by removing the admin rights when mediamonkey is run :s Go mediamonkey! I'm gonna continue enjoying mediamonkey! Keep up the good work!

Thank you, guys! Your work helped a lot. Especially removing the "run as administrator" when starting MediaMonkey.

multimedia keyboard -- none of the posted suggestions work

Post by aasubs »

My Labtec Wireless Media keyboard cannot control Mediamonkey 3, but it works fine with Winamp and Windows Media Player so I know the keyboard works.

I run Windows XP SP2.

I have followed all the suggestions at:

http://www.mediamonkey.com/faq/index.ph ... t=keyboard

http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... e43ac7c62d

In fact, there is no players.ini anywhere on my system, so I tried it with that text inseted into win.ini. Also, I created a players.ini containing that text and placed in the suggested directory.

I have gone into the Add-remove programs part of Control Panel and set MediaMonkey as the default audio player.

I am willing to live with keypad control, and have done what is suggested here:

http://www.mediamonkey.com/faq/index.ph ... artlang=en

That hasn't worked either. I am on the verge of throwing in the towel.

Help!

Are you sure that Global is set
You will need to Reconfigure Shortcut Keys to use with my MMKeys
If setting MM Playback Shortcuts do not Help.

BTW I Hope you will be Satisfied with knockout?

P.S. Do you use latest Driver?

Edit: Have you tried in Both Skinned and Non-Skinned MM versions?

multimedia keyboard

Post by aasubs »

Peke, thanks for the response.

I have checked the box for Global in the options for the 4 multimedia buttons. However, those keys don't work even when MM is active.

But if I check the box for Ctrl-N (next), that DOES work when MM is active window but still not globally.

I have installed latest driver for the Labtec keyboard. I have installed your MMKeys. When I doubleclick NEXT.BAT from windows explorer, it does advance to the next song, so I think we are close. But the driver software only allows me to specify the to key do this

c:\MMkeys\MMkeys.exe

and not this

c:\MMkeys\MMkeys.exe Next

Or, I can have the keyboard execute Next.bat directly, which shows a display box in lower right corner to indicate that something executed, but the song does not advance.

So how can I get the proper execution?

I have tried all this with the non-skinned MM, and still no improvement.

Wave keyboard

Post by skerns »

I also have a cordless Desktop Wave Keyboard. I just loaded MM 3 and am having the same issues using the buttons under Vista Business.
I have MM set as the default player for all audio file types and I'm using version 4.00.121 of the driver and control center Logitech software.

I've tried:

Replacing the entire players.ini file as shown in Peke's post.

Adding the entries shown in the FAQ;

[Players]
MediaMonkey=cmd,MediaMonkey.exe,Winampv1.x,xxx,xxx,40045,40046,40047,40044,40048,0,1,MediaMonkey
MediaMonkeyNS=cmd,MediaMonkey (non-skinned).exe,Winamp v1.x,xxx,xxx,40045,40046,40047,40044,40048,0,1,MediaMonkey

[Players.Display]
MediaMonkey=MediaMonkey
MediaMonkeyNS=MediaMonkey

[Players.Seek]
MediaMonkey=cmd,40148,xxx,1
MediaMonkeyNS=cmd,40148,xxx,1

[Players.Rewind]
MediaMonkey=cmd,40144,xxx,1
MediaMonkeyNS=cmd,40148,xxx,1

[Players.BurnSupported]
MediaMonkey=True
MediaMonkeyNS=True

And in TwiztidSinz' post:

[Players]
mmonkey=cmd,MediaMonkey.exe,TFMainWindow,xxx,xxx,39999,39999,40047,40044,40048,0,1,MediaMonkey S
mmonkeyns=cmd,MediaMonkey (non-skinned).exe,TFMainWindow,xxx,xxx,39999,39999,40047,40044,40048,0,1,MediaMonkey NS
mmonkeyw1=cmd,MEDIAMONKEY.EXE,WINAMP V1.X,xxx,xxx,39999,39999,40047,40044,40048,0,1,MediaMonkey W1
mmonkeyw2=cmd,MediaMonkey.exe,Winamp v1.x,xxx,xxx,39999,39999,40047,40044,40048,0,1,MediaMonkey W2
mmonkeyw3=cmd,MEDIAMONKEY (NON-SKINNED).EXE,WINAMP V1.X,xxx,xxx,39999,39999,40047,40044,40048,0,1,MediaMonkey W3
mmonkeyw4=cmd,MediaMonkey (non-skinned).exe,Winamp v1.x,xxx,xxx,39999,39999,40047,40044,40048,0,1,MediaMonkey W4

[Players.Run]
mmonkey=path,c:\Program Files\MediaMonkey

[Players.Display]
mmonkey=MediaMonkey

Note that all of these are slightly different. So what am I doing wrong?
Others have noted that they've gotten the issue resolved, but I'm not having any luck. Please lend a hand!

I love MediaMonkey and plan on buying Gold soon, but I'd sure like this problem fixed first.

Thanks,
Scott

@aaSubs
Their Driver is So poorly made :( so that you cant even assign Custom Keystroke to function.
Solution: you will need to Modify each .bat Files paths to look like this (if you have left default installation folder):

Code: Select all

@Echo OFF
Cd.
.\MMKeys.exe Play
@Echo ON
and change it to

Code: Select all

@Echo OFF
c:\MMkeys\MMKeys.exe Play
@Echo ON
@skerns
Make players.ini changes by using this example for complete overwrite or only these changes suggested by other users in later thread posts. Note: Logitech Setpoint should be closed and in some cases restart is needed (Driver only load new settings on startup). Solution was made in Setpoint 4.00.121 with EX-110

OK I have Made Some Updates to MMkeys to fix their driver limitations :)
Updated Version Of MMKeys.exe can be downloaded from here
MMKeys.txt wrote:Appendix:
--------------------------------
To use this new feature just create copy of MMkeys.exe with these Filenames
for executing coresponding Mediamonkey Command:

Play = Play.exe
Pause = Pause.exe
Previous Track = Prev.exe
Next Track = Next.exe
Stop = Stop.exe
Play/Pause = PlayPause.exe

Peke,

If I understand correctly, you wanted me to download the new MMKeys.exe, and then make copies of that file with the new names. I then placed those in the c:/mmkeys directory. This does allow assigning a Hotkey to the .exe file.

However, clicking on those files from windows explorer did not control anything in MM (but did launch something that shows up on Task Manager). Same thing happens from within the Labtec keyboard manager.

I also tried your previous suggestion (editing .BAT, and it led to an open CMD window and a message saying cannot find file)

So still not there... :(

That worked!! I didn't even think about restarting the software. Duh! I feel pretty dumb now! But it works perfectly now.

Thanks, Peke!

Even more motivated to purchase...
