Quick Switch of Audio Output Plugin

Post by Mr.Brightman »

I have 2 sound cards, one connected to my HIFI system and the other one connected to the monitor speakers. I use the last one when I listen with headphones. Now I need a quick and easy way to switch between these output devices in MM (easy enough for my girlfriend) Using Tools --> Options --> etc. takes too complicated. I am looking for a one-click solution.

Does somebody know a simple way?

Is it possible to use different config files passed as command line parameter?

Thanks!

You could create two accounts in windows. So you give the girlfriend one and that one is set to output to the stereo. Your account you set to headphone. If you need to switch you know what to do and the girlfriend can just play to the stereo without hassle.

Hi Lowlander, hi Mr.Brightman,

switching accounts is not a convenient solution. Besides the time and action needed to switch accounts, start and wait until MM runs, and the less tech-savvy person has to again select the tracks which they already once selected on the other account -- just before they realised the sound is not coming out of the speakers.

I ran into that problem myself -- just want to switch between the speakers on my laptop and a HDMI device I sometime connect to. I would not call it a technical issue, but a a button switching through active output plug-ins would increase usability definitely. I can imagine some people would love easy switching between input plug-ins, too.

So, if anybody knows a script (or a command) that switched the output plug-ins -- I would be glad to ear about it.

Keep up the good work! Cheers, M
