Hello
I listen to audio books both on my computer and on my MP3 player but I am having a hard time getting the book to play in the order the book reads. When I copy the audio book to my computer I get the program to put the track number after the album title and I manually put the CD number before the title so that I have the CD number then the title then the track number. But I haven't found a way to make a play list that plays it in order. The list goes from CD 1, 10,11,12,..., putting CD 2,3,..9 at the end of the list. Any ideas?
Thank You
Heather

Why not simply number them: CD 01, CD 02,......... CD10 ?

use a wav editing studio and re record the parts back in to one file.
or use the wav stuido to merge the files back in to one file. which ever is easier for you.

Hello
Thank you for your answers, I may edit all the files into one if I can't find another way to get it to work. There is an example of a file name "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince 1 - 08", it works as long as the book is no more then 9 CDs. Is there a way or program that I can use to record the CDs that will number the files 001, 002,.. 175? I can number the tracks on a CD but once I put in the next CD it starts at 001 again.
Thank you;
Heather

i suggest making the cd's be one chapter each and then number the pages in the chapter if you can make the chapter that small of a wav file.
or you can make a data cd rom but i am not sure if media monkey can play a data cdrom of all audio files. but i know you can put the mp3 files of your audio book on the cdrom in the data cdrom style and place a m3u playlist on the cdrom with the playlist order and then play the m3u.
if you play the m3u in non shuffle or non random mode then all the files should be done in order.
the m3u list would have to be a simple list. as in the list of file names only no path to them. and then just place the m3u in the same place as all the files on the cdrom it will then find them from the cdrom that way.
i know if you cut the bits of the files down to 96kbps on the talking files and make them mono when you make the mp3's of the audio book you can get the size down low enough that you can get about 10 to 12 hours of audio on the data cdroms.
if you are not sure what a data cdrom is.
it is just putting files on the cdrom like you put them in the computer. so you could explore the cdrom and see all your files.
an audio cdrom is a recording like an old record album and it only has so much room to do that..
if i said something you already are doing sorry.

Thank you, I like the idea of making chapters, I may make all the files on a CD into one MP3 60mins long. I have come up with another way too, I am putting the CD number in the year window when I record them. Then when when I want to sort them I sort by year. If this doesn't work I will make chapters of each CD.
Now I want to go learn how to make a play list in MM, I have been able to new a new play list but when I try to add files I get the circle with the line though it and can't add them.
Thank for your help;

I have only skimmed your post to be honest and I'm kinda tipsy, but I suggest using audible.com. I just works so perfectly. Believe me I've downloaded a lot of music and audiobooks from so so websites in strait MP3 form, but when it comes to audio books its just so much easier to use audible.com because you can download the whole book in about 3 seperate files, and just about any MP3 player, or audio program WMP, and itunes, and read the file and use the bookmark feature.
P.S. Check out American God just finished the audio version and its really good.

Re: Audio Book Play Lists
Are you able to sync your Audible book files using iTunes 8? I use MediaMonkey 3 to sync all my music and iTunes 8 for video, podcasts, photos, games, etc but I haven't found a way to use iTunes to sync my Audible books because both programs treat those files the same as music and end up conflicting. I select the option to manually manage my library in iTunes in order to prevent it from deleting all the music I have already sync'ed with MM3, but if I try to select the audiobooks, it does delete all the music. Does anyone know of a way around this?
