Unable To Move/Copy Grab Tracks MM3RC3 [F4095 RC4]

Post by cmx »

In order to clean-up and maintain my library I need to be able to drag and drop tracks from the main window and move to different albums in the Nav Tree window. I was able to grab the tracks...but was not able to "drop" them anywhere. The circle/cross icon never changes.*****Note this is not precisely the case...while experimenting I grabbed a song and it was dropped into a completely unrelated album though the circle/cross never changed...something is definitely amiss with this functionality....

This functionality has always been available in MM. I am not sure when it changed during the beta process, but it does not work in MM3RC3.

I was unable to figure out how to move tracks in ANY way with MM3.

The functionality works fine currently with MM2. I was able to re-organize things easily with MM2 and then re-scan in MM3.

Thanks for any help with this important and basic functionality.

Sigh....

The drag and drop functionality seems to operate if I am in the "Album Artist" node OR the "Artist & Album Artist" node but NOT in the "Artist" node.

I do not find the "Album Artist" node useful for my needs...so I don't ever access it while organizing my tracks. It only returns a subset of an artist's total tracks. The "Artist & Album Artist" node is also a bit cumbersome in how it returns/displays track data. I understand that many people find these nodes useful and convenient for their needs and specific library organization scheme and applaud MM for tasking care of us all.

I only use the Artist node because it returns ALL tracks for a specific artist NOT a subset. In organizing my library it is essential that I have this complete access capability along with drag and drop functionality.

Is this an oversight? If not could you please consider allowing the drag and drop functionality withing the "Artist" node.

Hi cmx. Can be more specific ? I was tried D&D in Artist node and seems to be OK (select some tracks and drag it to other artist in main tree will move tracks to newly selected artist).

Thanks peter.

Sorry I wasn't more specific. Dropping a track from one artist to a completely different artist DOES function here in the Artists node.

I CANNOT move a track from one "album" to another "album" by the SAME artist while in the artist Nav Tree node.

For example:

If I am combining all tracks of a multiple disk into a single album title.
If I am combining "fragmented" album tracks into a single album.
If I am creating a "new" album from tracks on different albums.
If I am completing an album with missing tracks using individual tracks.
If I am editing multiple instances/copies of the same album. (Different bit rate copies for example)

(I would usually have given you a screenshot, but in this case it was not helpful because the cursor does not show up in a simple screen capture.)
