MM3 won't remove iPod Nano (3rd Gen)

Post by sg60 »

Just started testing MM3.0.0.1098. I really like what I see so far. Wanted to report an issue with removing an iPod. I have a new 8GB Nano. Works fine with MM3 from a syncing standpoint. Only issue is I can't remove it safely from within MM3. I have to close MM3 and then use Windows to eject the drive.

If you are just starting to test MM3, you should start with the latest beta 1109. You downloaded an old version. 1109 is available at the end of the testing thread...

I have the same problem with my 160gb Ipod and the latest beta RC3. I sent the error log to the developers, hopfully this will get resolved soon. Here is thread I posted last week:

Wait! How do you "stop" a song from playing? I have always use the big play button on the player, which does in fact "pause" it. It does make sense that pausing a track would allow MM to not eject, since it would still be in use. I don't have my ipod with me at the moment, but I will try it as soon as I can.

Rusty-

I was in fact pausing the iPod and not stopping it. Stopping first did resolve the "eject problem". Why do we need "stop" the Ipod before ejecting it? The Ipod it's self doesn't have a dedicated stop button, nor does Itunes. Can the eject device option first stop the device, then eject? That would resolve the problem and the confusion.

Hi dmode101,
you probably have to stop the song because when you pause it, i is still opened. And if a gfile on your ipod is opened windows can't eject it.
To stop playback you have to click on the little square on the right (under the bitrate). I know it's a little bit hided but Morten who did the skin didn't find a better place.

But you're right! MediaMonkey could automatically stop the song if you eject the ipod. Maybe you should also mention that in the other thread.

Eject when paused.

You're right. I'll add this to our todo list post 3.0.
