MM RC4 & iPod classic 160GB = disaster area

Post by Guest »

Just downloaded RC4 with keen anticipation expecting a correct sync.....

Oh dear. It's crashed my ipod. In fact it's totally buggered my ipod. The screen has frozen and I suppose I'll have to wait a few hours for the battery to die..Not impressed.Hope it's ok when it wakes up.

When are we going to get to the stage that MM can do a perfect sync with an ipod classic? I'm going travelling in 3 months time and would like to do a full perfect sync asap. If not I'm going to have to start thinking of a plan B.

I like your topic name.

This problem should be cleared up in three months, but if not, you could always install iTunes, add your tracks, and sync through that.

It sounds backwards and awkward, I know, but it works.

Do it a couple hours before you need the sync, though. iTunes needs to generate gapless playback information so the iPod can play the songs without skipping at track changes.

When exactly did it freeze? MM synchronization shouldn't cause this problem, it still can be HW or firmware issue.

Btw, you can reset your iPod in order to not wait for your battery to die. I'm not sure what's the shortcut is, but you can easily Google it...

Just found this which worked thank god:

1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds.

iPod sync and RC4

Post by rusty »

To re-iterate Jiri's comment: all known iPod issues have been resolved. If you're experiencing a problem, please provide more details (repro steps, iPod DB, debug log).

RC4 has resolved your iPod / Classic synchronization issue, please let us know as well.

Keep in mind one thing: prior to RC4, your iPod compatibility settings may have gotten disabled. Before submitting a bug report about failed playback on the device, make certain that it is enabled.

Thx.
