ITunes to sync podcasts and MM to sync everything else?
I listn to dozens of podcasts every week for my job. I need the built-in podcast categorization of iTunes/iPod so that I can see the ones I have listened to for each podcast series. I also need the great organization of podcast by show title. I don't get this with the solution of using a playlist or genre categorization in MM.
I want to use MM for all music management and iPod sync, but every time I sync, it erases my podcast listing on the iPod.
Is there any way to prevent the erasure of this information when I sync my iPod with MM?
Thanks!

ejsimcox, I used a nano for a bit with iTunes and MM so I think I can help. In iTunes create a playlist with your podcasts, then set up iTunes to only sync that playlist. Sync it. Quit iTunes.
Now in MM, go into the options to tell MM to delete music not in your sync list BUT make sure to tell it to confirm deletions. MM will now prompt you to confirm which files to delete each time you sync. It's a pain because if you change your music often along with the podcasts you'll have to check/uncheck your music along with the podcasts you want to retain. Also, when you listen to music and go back to sync, you must sync with MM first. Otherwise, iTunes will wipe out the playback info on your music before you even get to sync it. After you synch in MM, then sync with iTunes to get your podcasts marked as played.
Yeah, it's a pain. And that's one reason I gave up on it.

Actually, I made the switch to 3.0 . . . the podcasting support is perfect.Da Bear wrote:try the MediaMonkey 3.0 Beta 1 it has a builtin podcasting support with synchronization capabilities to the iPod. I have tried it with my Nano, and it seems to be working as advertized i.e. synching the number of times played back to MM.

If I have to never open iTunes again it will be too soon!

Why go through all this PITA? iTunes suck, lets all agree on that point. MM3 B2 is getting there as far as stability goes. It's way better to manage music with AND it has outstanding podcast support now. Is that a no-brainer or what?dcm693 wrote:In iTunes create a playlist with your podcasts, then set up iTunes to only sync that playlist. Sync it. Quit iTunes.

Does it keep the tracks located on the podcast menu in your player? It didn't seem to be organized that way on my 5g.A_Disciple wrote:Actually, I made the switch to 3.0 . . . the podcasting support is perfect.Da Bear wrote:try the MediaMonkey 3.0 Beta 1 it has a builtin podcasting support with synchronization capabilities to the iPod. Do you have any issues with video podcasts?
Thanks.

1. Yes - it puts the tracks in the podcast menu on the player. I have the 160gb classic.Northruption wrote:Does it keep the tracks located on the podcast menu in your player? It didn't seem to be organized that way on my 5g.
