Amazon lookup & Unknown Album Art

Post by ninerays »

1) I just installed build 826 and looked up tag details from Amazon on a track. One of the songs had some text info at the bottom, so i ticked that to download it as well - It updated the comment field which was perfect. However the text comes out with tags (<i>,</i> etc) - Is there any way to display this as html or to remove the tags?

2) Also I tried to see which of my files did not have cover art & so used the "unknown Album Art" under "Files to Edit" in the explorer tree. I found that this did not work as I expected. It selects files with cover art when it does not know what type of picture (eg front cover, cover back etc). In other words it seems to select a file as not having art if it has a cover but is marked unknown. Can this be changed to tags that have no cover at all?

Thanks - I'll keep testing!

All my covers are linked to image files, all are "Not specified" and i could not reproduce your problem with the node Files to edit | Unknown album art...

I saw something like this too. I went to Unknown album art and they some of them did have art. I will see if this still happens with beta 2.

This happens with beta 2. All files in the album have art, and the type is set to Cover(front)

Tracks with album art appear in 'unknown album art' node

Ninerays, jmaver,

I tried to reproduce the scenario that you described with linked images and tagged images using beta 2 but could not!

Can you give me any more information about the bug that might help solve it?

e.g.:
-does the problem occur consistently with certain files? If yes, is there anything that you can tell me about how metadata/images were added to those files? Can you send me one such file?
-if the problem doesn't occur consistently with certain files, is there any other sort of pattern that you observe?

1) No, the displayed text for tracks cannot be formated. As for removing html tags imported from Amazon, yes, that would be an option, but I'm not sure if the very best, this way formatting information would be completely lost.

2) I can only imagine this happening this way: you had a Library created prior 2.3 version, there were tracks scanned, but, of course, without album art that wasn't supported in 2.2. Such old tracks are considered to be without any album art by MM 2.3 as long as they aren't rescanned because MM cannot know about the album art. So, after you rescan your whole collection, all should work as expected.

Rescan how? Delete the mdb? I have folder monitoring set up at startup, and I let that scan complete, and it still is there.

Tracks with album art appear in 'unknown album art' node

If you're running the file monitor, then your directory is automatically being rescanned and any new album art should be added. Can you clarify though:
-Do you see your album art in your library?
-If yes, are you saying that a track for which you see Album Art appears in the Unknown Album Art node?
-If yes, can you answer the questions from my last post?
-does the problem occur consistently with certain files? If yes, is there anything that you can tell me about how metadata/images were added to those files? Can you send me one such file?
-if the problem doesn't occur consistently with certain files, is there any other sort of pattern that you observe?
thx.

I see album art for most of my library - everywhere I expect, because most of it is tagged properly and has it. So, the normal album art functionality seems to be fine.
When I go to the Unknown Album Art I see 996 files out of my 6650.
I hit page down a random number of time, and sometimes the selected file will have album art and sometimes not. The ones that have album art, all the files from the album will be listed. So, for example, the entire Amelie soundtrack.
These same files show up consistently. They all have Cover Front set.
I don't see any pattern based on name or path or genre or anything else.
I would be happy to send a file. How do I do it?

album art strangeness

If you could just e-mail me a couple of the smaller files that exhibit this problem, that'd be great. Please send it to supportatmediamonkeydotcom

thx

Unknown Album Art node contains tracks with Album Art

Post by rusty »

jmaver,

I tested the track that you sent me by:
-scanning it into my library
-checking the Unknown album art node for the track

I tried this 3 times (each time removing the track from the library beforehand) and all three times, the track did _not_ appear in the Unknown Album Art node.

This leads me to believe that perhaps in one of the earlier alphas/betas, images weren't being added to the library properly.

Can you:
-Send me a copy of your MediaMonkey database file?
-Try clearing your library completely and then rescanning it (assuming your tags already contain all the critical information you need) ? You can do this via the File | Clear Library command.

thx.

Starting with an empty library fixed all the issues. The old library is 20MB, I don't think that will mail.

Album Art and Unknow Album Art node

Ok, thx. I'll assume for now that the problem was caused by one of the early betas. If it crops up again, please let me know, and we'll investigate.

1) but at what point would that formatting info be used. MM can't (at this point) show the information formatted.

To me it makes sense to format out the html tags.

unknown album art

Post by rusty »

btw, re. the unknown album art, we found the bug and in the next build, a rescan _will_ correctly add images that appear in the 'unknown album art' node.
