Crash: Tagging a song while its playback is near end

When I rate (i.e. tag!) a file (mp3) that is currently being played and is close to its end (last 10% of time or so) MM seems to run into problems:

When fading is turned off, playback position of the file jumps back quite some seconds (i.e. repeating the previous x seconds), then all is back to normal.

When fading is turned on, MM crashes: display of window is normal, the playback position keeps jumping back from the very end of the song to a few seconds before, and indefinately keeps repeating the last seconds. It will never start the next song. The standard MS Windows XP window appears (where you can terminate the app and maybe send a bug report). After terminating MM this way (no visual or audio of MM anymore), a new windows tells me "Unknown software rerror (0x0eedfade)" at 0x7c812a5b. I press ok, and a new windows tells me "Runtime error 217" at 0430ECEE.

Using latest beta/RC.

forgot to mention, that in the second case Mediamonkey.exe is never truly terminated and will never disappear from the task manager, until I terminate it there manually.

I had a similar problem with 1155(non-debug). Rated track about half way through. Instead of the usual hiccup in the audio the play terminated and the track was marked as played.

Have not seen any crashes, but, as time permits...

Crash bug still applies to latest RC, 3.0.3.1175 RC-8. 100% reproducible. Play a song, set playback slider close to its end, having cross fading turned on. Change rating of current song, having "update tag info" turned on. MM keeps repeating last x seconds, MM crahes, three crash windows appear.

DebugView reports the following listing, starting about 10secs before I change the rating. Maybe this is the problem:

Reporduced here (1175). The jump back can be as far as to 22s before the end of a 1m26s track. And I notice that upon the jump, two times figures change momnetarity to nonsense vaules, e.g. the left one to more than the length of the track e.g. 1:34 and the right to a positive value e.g. 0:06.

Thought it was solved, but maybe I was just getting more caareful when to rate/tag:

Still applies to current version 3.0.3.1183. PLEASE GET INVESTIGATING OR WORKING ON THIS!!! It is a fatal error, obviously not restricted to beta versions.

Or let me know that chrisjj an me are the only ones experiencing this easy to reproduce error...

BTW, each time I loose my current playlist completely. Sometimes I put a lot of effort into building it up. Maybe you should consider some kind of interim save of the playlist so MM can re-read it when restarting after a crash. Any workaround?

I too am experiencing this - actually quite a bit since I do a lot of tagging while listening to songs. VERY annoying.

I've also experienced this. I've just taken to doing editing of currently playing tracks well before they reach their end now.

I get the same error. It's always at the end of a song. While it does seem more likely if I've just rated the playing track, this does not seem to be necessary for the crash to occur. Any progress on this?

Just an additional comment: I just got aware of the fact that I've currently turned off fading between songs - and it still crashed. So my comment about fading (that MM doesn't crash when fading is turned off) in my initial post doesn't seem to apply (any more?).

I can also confirm this bug => crash while tagging/rating song during the last seconds, before the next song is about to start.

Yeah, I also came across this error while rating a track which was close to it's end. It just crashed.
