iTunes Album Art To MM

Post by DumbPoet »

I've been trying for a while now to make MM recognize the high quality album art that iTunes embeds into tags.
Everything works fine in iTunes, but when I "add/rescan" the track into MM it refuses to recognize it.

Infact I tried to clear out all of the album art from the tags with Album Art Tagger, but when I "add/rescan" it undoes all of that.. restoring the multiple, low quality images that infest my tags.

Any suggestions on how to effectivly clean my Album Art in the general manner that I'm attempting to?
Thanks :)

Problem #1: iTunes doesn't embed the art into tags, it just stores it in its own database (also why MM won't recognize it).

Probably you have some album art in the same directories that your tracks are stored in. Going to Tools -> Options -> Library, then disabling "Scan track directories for album art" will stop the art from being associated at start up.

You can't use iTunes art with MM, they're just not compatible. iTunes uses a proprietary database and a proprietary picture file so it really isn't compatible with anything except iTunes and iPods. I suggest you clear out your art, change the setting mentioned above, and using the Batch art finder script by Trixmoto to embed art into your tags.

Hi,

iTunes does embed artwork - it places artwork in external files when Coverflow is enabled.

The proprietary format is only an additional header to a JPG/PNG file and can be converted successfully.

I'm very interested in this, are you aware of a tutorial on how to accomplish this?
If not are you aware of additional information that might help me search out such a tutorial?

Here is the only solution, beyond doing it file by file, that I've found:
http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/lof ... 54818.html

Unfortunately it sounds like this dumps all of the generically named art files into one folder...
Hopefully someone will come up with a solution at some point for batch stripping/renaming or something.
Or maybe someway to auto create a file structure that Album Art Tagger could utilize.

Anyways, thanks for the info.
