I feel so bad posting bad news. >.< Since RC8, if I try autorating the whole library (autorate icon), it freezes mediamonkey and makes it unresponsive. I have to force quit it. I'm able to use Beta7 without this problem though. Just thought I'd let you know.

@JuBe: Yeah, that's really bad news but I hope to be able to fix that.
Could you please try to reset the FirstPlayedDate, the PlayedTime and if possible also the SkipCounter? You can do that in the AutoRateAccurate-options under tool. And does it crash while AutoCalibration? Or while the AutoRating-process?

@MonkeeMadness: Thanks! :)

I got the same problem JuBe has. I changed the forumla giving 0% to 5 stars in order to manually choice the top songs. But now every time I open the options panel and I click ok, the auto-rating starts and freezes mediamonkey after ten, twenty seconds.
Tried to reset as you, Big Berny, suggested to JuBe, but this freezed mediamonkey too...

I too ran into a similar problem when I wanted to switch formulas but you must remember when you are resetting on several thousand tracks, it will take some time. I tried to run it overnight and it was finished when I came back to it in the morning but I found that it is quicker and easier (at least for me) to use Bex's SQL Viewer to remove the autoratings and then just have it rerun the ratings with the new formula. Bex's Viewer only took a few seconds to remove the ratings on over 6000 tracks. Once again since it is rerunning on several thousand tracks, it took several hours to complete, and again I left it overnight to run. ARA has yet to disappoint me. :D

Here is the query, if you are doing it on a lot of songs it might take a while. I set mine to run overnight so I am not sure how long it took to update the tracks.

Code: Select all

UPDATE Songs SET ISRC ='' WHERE ISRC LIKE '%AR%'

Are your results for ARA saved in the ISRC field? If not, you need to change that part to match the field you are using. But, as a test you should first make a backup of your DB (just in case) and take a few tracks and give them some unique info so you can test to ensure it is removing the right info. You can also select all the tracks you want to remove the data from, right click and select properties. Then put a check in the field you want to remove the data. There is also the Clear Field script, but I found this to be the slowest of the three options.

Hi guys,
I'm back from my third holidays from the last 2 months! :D

I'll have a look and try to optimize the AutoRateAccurate-Tools. But the reason why the script is slower than the SQL Viewer is, that the script also updates the tags and not only the database. Maybe I'll add an option for that... Anyway the way over SQL seems a bit nicer (and although faster) than mine so I'll maybe also implement an SQL query... Let's see when I have time to work on it.

By the way Microsoft just released a fix for their date-bug I had problem with. You get it over windows autoupdate. Altough it's not needed anymore because I bypassed the problem for hours of work. But at least I was some weeks faster. ;)

I took your advice Big Berny, but before I did anything, I made a backup with BackUp v5.1. I then tried to reset the various fields you mentioned to stop the freezing. MediaMonkey became unresponsive so I tried tried it again, this time letting MediaMonkey do its thing overnight, but after 12 hours, it was still not responding. Mediamonkey becomes unresponsive both when Autorating (not autocalibrating) and midway when clearing fields from tracks. Whatever, so I restored using the Restore.vbs file that was created with the backup. But when I restarted mediamonkey, several error messages popped up. I tried reinstalling AutoRate, but this is the error I get...

There was a problem querying the database:
Could not retrieve data "SELECT Songs.*
FROM Songs
WHERE Cast(julianday('now','localtime')-DateAdded-2415018.5 as integer) > 10000
": database disk image is malformed (11,11)
Cancel Retry Ignore

Does anyone know what's going on here?

Lol then at the end of my installation attempt, I get a "Catastrophic failure" message

Well the problem you posted here looks like there's a problem in the database. As also other users (without AutoRateAccurate) reported such problems there seems to be a problem in MM3 somewhere I think. In 2.5.5 I never heard of such issues.

Anyway it would be interesting for me which song makes the script crash. Maybe I'll make debug version...

I'll have a look!
