Songbird, the new competitor to MM?

Hello!
I installed Sunbird for testing issues. But I can't find an Amazon Tagging feature like in MM. Are there any extension for this job?
I want switch to Linux, but I can't because MM isn't compatible to Linux. Are there any crossplatform player with this special "Amazon Tagging Feature"?
Thanks!
Andi

MM vs Songbird
As much as I love MM, I'd like to point out that MM is at version 2.5+, while SB is only at 0.2.1. Hating SB because it isn't as good as MM is like hating your 3-year-old brother because he can't play sports as well as <insert your favorite pro sports player>.
Right now, although MM is clearly better today, SB is one of the biggest future threats to it (in, maybe, a year or two). MP3 players that support both audio and video are going to become more important in the future, and MM needs to keep up, or it'll wither away. I have a video-capable MP3 player, and I currently have to use at least four different programs: MM, a podcast downloader, a program to transfer videos, and another one to play them (I use it just for previewing a video before transferring it). I hate this situation, and I'll happily switch to any other program that can do all of these. And, I'd like to point out that SB already has a rudimentary video playback capability, as well as being multi-platform.
Of course, I'm hoping that MM will eventually evolve to do all this, but I'll switch if it doesn't meet my needs.

Amarok is often considered a good player. Furthermore it seems that MediaMonkey 3.0 might run under wine so it would work on Linux.

The Only thing that MM stops to Support Video is GOOD REALLY GOOD Video Input Plugin (Or should I say Application that is made as plugin). From Other Side MM have Ability to Dock windows (in this case Video Window) all functions that is needed for SubTitles, Panning, Stretch, Viewing Mode, .... can be done either within plugin or within scripts (buttons, combos (For example with TV Cards to select channels), ... Format For Tagging can be Modified so that Custom3 is used for storing info about Language of Movie and so on.
Pure example of that kind of customization of MM is PrettyPictures that add something that MM do not support or for example CUEReader script that adds new filetype support, evil lyrics or for example Batch Album art finder or lots of others,.... Oh, I forgot my own AudioMonitor (or SongMonitor) that adds ability to use second sound card to listen songs from MM library without interfering MM at all. We all talk about something that would be good (Including me) but small number of us actually tries to solve/make that and create reality from ideas
I personally have installed SB and it have lots of potential, a great piece of app, but also personally if I miss something in MM I will first ask here if that is possible to make, then try to make it, publish it so that someone could make it better or at least enhance it (check Trixmoto, Bex, Lowlander, Pablo, RowingCowboy, Pah68, Psyxonova, The Rocket, paulmt, onkel_enno, ... They all do like that).
Healthy competition is always welcome and from my point of view that is driving force for developers except maybe user support in any way. I'm glad for SB and what will become in their road to successes. There is also Amorok in the way on Linux. Check/Read This too see what MM has in his past and imagine what future can bring. For now this community always bring new challenges/features/questions and answers that astonish me every day. But future awaits us and we shell see what will bring.

Re: Songbird, the new competitor to MM?
Songbird still buckles under the weight of a large library, not to mention it has serious metadata reading/updating issues.
Re: Songbird, the new competitor to MM?
Songibird does look very nice, but technically it currently doesn't come close to MM3 which in my opinion is the most powerfuk program out their for your music needs.

What kind of program is that??? HahahaToeAndno wrote:Songibird does look very nice, but technically it currently doesn't come close to MM3 which in my opinion is the most powerfuk program out their for your music needs.
Re: Songbird, the new competitor to MM?
Haha, you need a special script to enable that function...let's see Songbird do that!!!

For me, Songbird is barking up the wrong tree.

Re: Songbird, the new competitor to MM?
I've heard on the grapevine that they are going to rename it 'turkey' because it won't ever grow any wings and soar to the heights that users demand. It's just like the new wamp -fat, ugly and totally dominated by commercial interests. Let's face it, there's tough opposition out there and not everybody wants an 'iphone style' media player with so many gidgets and gadgets you'll never get out to meet any good looking women/men. Which reminds me!

Re: Songbird, the new competitor to MM?
Sorry, but the layout in Songbird is just what I have been looking for since I bough a license for MM. MM is better, still, but this is the way I want to go.
Re: Songbird, the new competitor to MM?
What does the "layout" mean? Is it e.g. "Show Track Browser" in MM view?ArtistformerlyknownasSebastian78 wrote:Sorry, but the layout in Songbird is just what I have been looking for since I bough a license for MM. MM is better, still, but this is the way I want to go.

tried but i never like it

Here a review from Ars Technica. Apparently SongBird supports iTunes store DRM tracks.
