As he said you have to wait for the next version.
@Peke: Does it also scrobble from ipods?

@Big_Berny
I'm Not so sure that this could be possible due to Last.FM scrobble policy.
Read 3.3 from Last.fm API http://www.last.fm/api/submissions and even if we make false values (which based on last.fm should not be supported) iPod do not return correct play times for each increase of Playcounter just the last one

Few small things needs yet to be done but

Re: Announcement: Native Last.fm Plug-in & Auto-DJ testing
Well personally I hope that I don't need the client anymore...
@Peke: No problem, so I still use third-party-tools. But just to let you know: Also the official last.fm-client submitts ipod-plays so I it can't really be a problem, right? But as I said for me also the use of third party tools is ok.
But then I have a feature request. It would be really great if we could pause submissions. This doesn't mean to disable submissions but only to add them to cache (to submit them later). So I still can't listen to my music in MM also if I haven't submitted my ipod-plays yet. At the moment I always have to disable last.fm untill I submit the ipod-plays because if MM submitts one play, all ipod-plays can't be submitted anymore due to the spam-protection. This feature should be no problem policy-wise because nothing is faked, only the submition is delayed not the playtime.
By the way winamp already has this feature and an option to always cache (not submit) the plays if no ipod is connected. This would be perfect. But if we could MM let send submission to cache by hand this would also be great.

@spacefish
Client support will be interesting only after MM native plugin works without problems and also with new API there will be almost no need for make implementation/interaction with client. Additionally Client do not work as portable app and MM To-Do contains MM portable version solution.

Great idea, I never thought that the one of solutions could be to cache files until you connect iPod and then combine iPod plays with cache before you scrobble all of them as that way Play Now will still work. I'll add this to plugin To-Do.

Re: Announcement: Native Last.fm Plug-in & Auto-DJ testing
Thanks Peke, that's good news!
By the way the official last.fm-application AFAIK also 'calculates' (other people would say 'fake'
) playtime if a song has been played twice on the ipod. I'd have a look at how they make it. If you want I also can check that by myself if I get my ipod back from servicecenter.

Re: Announcement: Native Last.fm Plug-in & Auto-DJ testing
You've alluded to that before but you have yet to answer specifically what features you will be adding into the native plugin that will make the client unnecessary. Will I be able to tag tracks, add them to last.fm playlists, love them on last.fm, share them with last.fm friends? Will the native plugin be able to report to the client what track is playing so i can take advantage of managing those recent tracks after they've already played (via the client sidebar)?Peke wrote:@spacefish

Keep in mind that the client has a lot of features that I use both in tandem with and outside of MM. Tagging on last.fm, for example, is quite cumbersome outside of the client (via the web widgets). I would hate to lose the functionality I have with the client just because someone has decided that there's no need for a client-compatible or "official" MediaMonkey plugin. If you have any doubts about how much tagging a user can do, just take a look at my profile. Click on the track list in my sig.
This doesn't concern me as I have no use for MM to be portable. While I appreciate that you must prioritize your projects, I would be much more impressed with a plugin that actually performed all the functions the last.fm client does now. Granted, it will be a great step forward if you can just make the next plugin version scrobble reliably. A plugin that could be used without -- or with -- the client would be spectacular indeed.Additionally Client do not work as portable app and MM To-Do contains MM portable version solution.

Re: Announcement: Native Last.fm Plug-in & Auto-DJ testing
First of all I would like to say I am an absolut maniac with MM. I love it and I am using it every day.
My music collection comprehenses around 18.000 tracks. 95 % correctly tagged.
OK, I have seen people around with more tracks but still it is a challenge to screen through them to find good music.
LastFM is a great idea to find great music not heared for a long time or simetimes never heared. so, great thanks for everybody contributing to this.
I would like to share some ideas to perhaps make it even better:
- adding just one track while playing the last track of the playlist
Reading the comments in this thread I understood that it is difficult to add a list of similar music to the playlist because lastfm is blocking a list of requests posted within a short time frame. Here I would like to mention the tool localfm (see google). localfm requires to key in an artist and a title then it goes to lastfrm.com and generates a list of i.e. 200 similar tracks and compares it with the current music database. I really like this but the trade off is that it is not integrated. Perhaps this is a way to add this type of functionality for last fm plugin as well ?
- I found out that many songs recommended by last fm.com are existing in my collection but they will never make it to the playlist as the spelling is differnt ore quite often I have more invormation in the title. Sometimes I don't even see a difference and I don't know why er certain recomendation did not make it to the playlist. Would it be a possibility to add a more smooth search algorythm. Example:
lastfm recommends Kaiser Chiefs - Thank you very much. In my collection I might have Kaiser Chiefs - thank you
- and finally I have created a playlist based on an extended search. the playlist of course is very static while my collection keeps changing. Would it be possible to fall back instead of a playlist (in the case if lastfm would not find anything relevant) to a dynamic search ?
I know that I am mixing things here but I would also like to mention one bug which I have found in my installation: every once and a while LastFM Plugin came back to me with a message "error in Linke 499....) Ok I kind of fixed it as it was just the way how the log gets populated. Just wanted to mention the issue as others may find it as well.

Re: Announcement: Native Last.fm Plug-in & Auto-DJ testing
So, considering that there are 27 pages of discussion here. I figured I just ask... Sorry if it has already been answered, but...
I installed the last.fm scrobbler about a month ago and have been listening to music through MM ever since. My currently playing track is always displayed on my page, but I still have yet to have any charts created. Or recommendations based on songs. The only recommendations I can get are the ones through the artists I said I liked.
Is this is a MM issue, or a last.fm issue?

There is some bug with it.Borgle wrote:Is this is a MM issue, or a last.fm issue?
If you delete LastFM_Cache.dat from:
Vista:
C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Local\MediaMonkey
It will start working again.

I don't have a LastFM_Cache.dat in that folder... I have a LastFM.Log though. Is that what you meant?
I can't believe there still isn't an official LastFM plugin for MM! Is MM not considered to be up there with iTunes and Winamp yet?

Also. I much prefer an integrated solution like this than a seperate standalone solution that LastFM provide. I don't want to be running another app every time.
