GUI: Buttons to hide/show panels

Post by NightInAgharta »

New version of MM is almost perfect in its GUI aspects. But there is still something I think could make it perfect:
1. Folder tree panel with a button to hide/show it
2. Folder tree detachable as the other panels
3. Panels dragged outside the main window should have a sort of magnetic feature to connect each other when moved closer (as winamp does)
4. When using a multi monitor configuration, if MM is started when the other monitors are disconnected, the GUI should be positioned in the main monitor and resized to default size.

Sorry for the bad english, I do my best but it is not easy for italians.

1. Already reported: http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=5243
2. Folder tree is detachable here, just as other panels.
3. Not exactly sure what you mean
4. Sorry, don't have another monitor to test with!

2. Folder tree can be detached if you display its title.
3. That's a good idea. I'll add: the ability to minimize MM to MiniPlayer and keep displaying all the open detached panels.

Ok, sorry, the problem with the folder tree is ok, I didn't knew that it could be detachable just displaying the panel title. That's cool.
For "magnetic" i mean that each panes, when detached from the main window, should snap each other or snap to the screen edges when moved closer to other panels or screen edges. This will make easier to align the panels each other when detached. Why I need this? Because I work with 3 monitors (yes, that's right, 3 monitors). In the main monitor I use my VirtualDJ, in the secondary i put the main mediamonkey window and in the third monitor i put all the panels (monkeyrok, Lyrics and so on. But everytime it is not easy to align them. With the snap feature everything could be easier.
And moreover.... the main player detachable?

:D

Mediamonkey rocks!

The main player is detachable, it just depends on the skin (the default skin "Glided" does not allow it, but most others do).

D'oh!! I didn't know your player was detachable nohitter151.

NightInAgharta, maybe you should start another thread called "Winamp 'docking' behavior" or something? It might help make your point.
Maybe rename the title of this thread to match number 4 and only include number 4 in it. In fact, is number 4 a bug?

I don't know, up to you. Good luck :) (on the bridge of the Starship Enterprise by the sound of it).
