I've got an 80GB 6th gen ipod classic. Using latest stable MM3.0.
I sync without problems, for the most part. But many of my files don't display Album Art on my ipod, even though in MediaMonkey I can see a good image, and when I look under Files to Edit, all my files have album art (nothing listed under "Unknown Album Art".
During these cases, If I use MM3's properties editor, I typically find that there's more than one file embedded in my mp3 file, or I have a WMP11 bogus image file in there (with just a music note), or sometimes I have just a non-embedded .jpg file in the folder.
What I'd really like is a script (or a MediMonkey option, even better), that correctly flags these cases and allows me to fix them. Or provide an option to only sync with the 1st album art file if my ipod won't handle more than one. Going through them by hand is a pain.
I see triximoto has an album art script -- can someone comment if it does what I'm looking for, over and above the Unknown Album Art function in MM3 itself?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
no Album Art display for multiple/non-imbedded images

Re: no Album Art display for multiple/non-imbedded images
This seems to be the fix for the missing or incorrect Album Art on my 6G iPod Classic 120GB. I was getting very frustrated by this, I deleted everything on the iPod, resynced a couple of times trying to "repair" the problem.
I think, but haven't confirmed, that if you have more than one image embedded (ie. front & back covers) or a "missing image" like you describe with the "?" then MM works OK but the iPod gets confused and corrupts the rest of the album art for many of the albums.
I took a day to go through EVERY song on EVERY album and delete all but the front cover images, then cleared out the iPod and resynced my library.
So far, so good.

OK, nice to know it's not just me.
But I don't think it's reasonable to expect people like us to spend a day eliminating multiple album art to sync with an ipod. MM is supposed to support ipod synchronization. This sounds like a bug somewhere to me. I wonder if the sync code can be changed to only allow one tagged image to sync...otherwise MM should provide a warning on songs that have more than one image. Thoughts?

Re: no Album Art display for multiple/non-imbedded images
I have the same problems. I was spending all this time going through each and every track editing and deleting and whatevering the album art. But it's still not working! Songs where everything looks perfect in MM, and even perfect when I look at the file data in Windows Explorer, do not have album art on the iPod. The WMP11 thing sucks, too -- every time I open WMP11 to do something else, I think it starts going through my music library and creating folder.jpg album art for each embedded album art it finds. This is especially frustrating since I don't adhere to the Artist-Album folder structure. I wish there were a way to keep WMP11 from doing that. I think the problem is that every program/device assigns album art and retrieves that album art in a different way. Ugh!

Re: no Album Art display for multiple/non-imbedded images
After purchasing a 6th gen 160GB Ipod I encountered the same issues. When I add/rescan tracks to MM, it wants to add an extra tag to every file. I have my library set up in genre folders according to the genre tag on each file, so for example when I rescan the "Classic Rock" genre folder, every file within that folder that gets added to MM liobrary will get a copy of an album cover for "Yes - Close To The Edge"....This is more of an annoyance than a bug, but I did have a serious issue today when trying to get ITunes to recognize my Ipod. It would hang up Windows and I would have to terminate its process. I discovered why: The first 107 files in my Classic Rock folder had 500+ album covers embedded in their respective tags.
This issue is usually due to a corrupt mp3 or a corrupt tag, or in this case, too many embedded album covers with respect to IPOD's requirements.
My solution was to delete the files completely from the library and computer and then re-add them from an archive. I, too, feel that this is related to Windows Media Player and its strange library and tagging system. In win XP, WM11's database is located at: C:\Documents and Settings\"user"\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player. The largest file is the current database. Check for corrupted databases, and if WM11 is not your default player for mp3's, delete all the databases and do not allow WM to create another library.
This should be looked at more closely and I hope the above can help someone.

Re: no Album Art display for multiple/non-imbedded images
Hi,
I just wanted to say that I have the same problem recently. I am using MM 3.0.6.1190 and ipod 6th gen 160GB ipod classic.
The funny thing is that this only happened with a new 160gb ipod that I have recently received as part of the battery exchange from Apple. The item was brand new. My previous 160gb ipod did not have this problem.
Also, another difference is that my ipod is almost full. I also use it as an external hard drive to store fotos etc.
I would consider this a bug. Is any of the developers able to reproduce this problem?
Thanks.
