This is not a bug report.
Can anyone tell me how to scrub what I think may be bad MM Open With entries that originated from a transferred Documents and Settings?
I uninstalled 1244, leaving Explorer .MP3 and .WMA Open With showing no programs. I installed 1247 and now .MP3 Open With shows three (!) MM's plus one Windows Media Player, and .WMA Open With shows two MMs and one WMP.
I'd like to uninstall MM, scrub any dormant Open With entries somehow then reinstall MM and check I get only one MM on the Open With.
And help

Re: 1247 Open With messup
chrisjj,
This is stored to the registry. It looks like a bug to me, though it may be related to having multiple copies of MM installed.
We're looking into it at: http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=5643
Thanks.

FWIW, the number of simultaneous multiple installations on the OS from which I transferred Documents and Settings was one (for three users) at the time of the transfer, though was two at some time in the past. It has experienced many /serial/ installations. It did not show this problem. The number of simultaneous multiple installations on the OS /to/ which I transferred was just one, and it had had a few serial installations in the past.

Note that the fix tries to prevent further addition of new entries, it doesn't delete any existing entries. In case you have some, you can delete them manually in registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.mp3\OpenWithList

Note that the bug entry does not accord: "Windows Explorer 'Open with' context menu has duplicate MediaMonkey entries."

Since uninstall does not
, I will do. Thanks.

FTR, here's what I found necessary to get rid of all the rundundant entries i.e. inc. under other file types and All Users:
1 In regedit32 CTRL+F

2 At each match, delete all but the first MediaMonkey.exe key and any MediaMonkey (non-skinned).exe keys
3 Press F3 to repeat until none found.

Looks like it failed. e.g. after clearing all entries as per http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... 34#p206934, now a few versions later (1256) I see:
Explorer mp3:

Firefox .RM

Please send me content of the above mentioned registry key. Also, if possible, remove the redundant entries and make try to find out when the problem appears. Haven't you started some older version, like MM 3.0?
