Could this be because Album Art mode is disabled in Now Playing panel? Either way, it should revert back to the mode the user selected prior to entering the NP panel.

I agree with this statement. Enabling the Show Album Art view on Now Playing, not so much.

I think yes. But quite why Album Art mode is disabled in Now Playing panel, I cannot fathom... unless it is a bug.

I strongly disagree - that would overwrite any change the user made since entering NP.

I'm missing your point here, what is it you want, to return to your view mode prior to entering NP or your view mode after entering NP?

Album Art is disabled here in 1256, while Album Art with Details is not. This is because the Album Art view groups the tracks under the album artwork thumbnail and as a result, doesn't indicate a play order. Meanwhile, the Album Art with Details view is still enabled, because it still shows the tracks, and thus indicates the playorder (which is pretty much the main function of the Now Playing node)

This concept is also why I believe filtering this node is disabled.

Honestly I do not believe I can give an intelligent reason why because I do not use the NP node except on VERY rare occasions, so I do not lose my view when switching around my panels. Personally I find the NP node too inconsistent to use, it never saves the visible columns that I have selected and to avoid that inconvenience I use the NP list whenever I need to. However, the main reason I do not use it, is 99.5% of the time MM is open it is playing from my playlists and I do not like to sort or anything else other than editing the currently playing song if needed.

As a side note, it might help if you would give a little more explanation in your original posts in order to further clarify your problem and expectations. Sometimes your posts are so abbreviated it's almost as if I have to intuit what it is you're looking for. But maybe that is just me having a hard time understanding.

There was a bug like this in the Beta cycle.

Now Playing doesn't and shouldn't have the (Show) Album Art view (although you can always request it in the wishlist forum), but switching between Now Playing and other nodes shouldn't loose the (Show) Album Art with Details view used on other nodes. This seems to be a regression, can't find the bug report though.

@Chrisjj, I'm referring in the above to the Show .... items in the View menu.

I'm not seeing that specific bug entry, Lowlander, however I did find a bug entry that supports the disabling of "Show Album Art" for the Now Playing node: Bug #2999

The issue is that the Now Playing resets the (Show) Album Art view to (Show) Album Art with Details view. This goes for any node that supports (Show) Album Art with Details view like Artist/Album Artist and is independent on how you navigate (click on node or back button) and is independent of the setting to show or hide tracks in the Library node. Definitely a bug here.
