Unwanted Beeps

Post by Pam »

:-? Since I switched from WinAmp to MM as MP3 player, I have these irritating "Beeps" preceding a track.

How do I switch those off?

Do you have the popup notification turned on. If so, turn it off and the beeps should go away.

It's a Windows function and not a fault of MM

As Lowlander says, check windows pop notifications.

I have been looking around Winsows, Control Panel, Help, but I can't find this option. Where should I look?

It is a MedieaMonkey setting.

Go to Tooos|Options, General node, 5th checkbox down, clear the checkmark.

:D Which makes sense, as WinAmp had no such beeps. I found it, thank you all for helping out.

That removes the song notification which in this instance removes the beep because you no longer get the ballon showing the song title and artist. However if you want to keep the MediaMonkey feature but not have the annoying windows beep.

Go to Control Panel

Sounds ( or Sounds and Audio Devices)
Sounds Tab
Choose none as the sound for System Notification

Both ways will do the job, but I've gotten use to the Windows System notification sound with another program. I now use the Toaster plug-in for displaying track info. As an option, a silent MM pop-up would be nice but it wouldn't be at the top of my wishlist.

Beeps

Post by Pam »

I found the Windows option finally.
However I understand that one of two options will do. If you only want to switch of beeps using MM, use the MM option, if you want to get rid of the beeps with any program, use the Windows procedure.

Thanks for the help and explanations
