Filters and Views

Post by shawn »

OK this answer is seriously eluding me. My question concerns configuring Filters & Views. In a previous installation of MM3 I was able to rearrange the order of columns for a playlist by bringing that playlist into view and simply dragging and dropping the columns as I want them to appear. I can still do this, mind you, but a very bothersome difference I am noticing is that any changes I make to the column order on any one playlist automatically overwrites the column order for all of my other playlists as well.

Additionally, I have been unable to find an explanation as to the difference between a checked box and a filled box, as they apply on the screen copied below.

That has always been the way that it worked, MM never stored separate settings for each playlist.

Difference between box and check:

Check indicates that node will be shown in all filters
Box indicates the node will show only in some (not all) filters

HUH??? These are supposed to be settings for a particular filter, why would the checks show in other filters? BTW, I've always wondered about this so I always select the check but they change to boxes when you upgrade to a new version.

I just assumed that was the case, since it made the most sense. I don't have MM to test with now at work, is that not the case?

I've never seen any indication that settings from one filter affects the other, but I have not investigated enough to tell the difference between the checks and boxes, I just know the checks match what I want it to show. :-?

I've been playing around with this and to tell you the truth I have no idea what the box does because it does not make the node/column visible when it is selected. :-?

I believe that a "filled box" pertains to the "None (Show All Tracks)" settings. If a Check is put into the column box for a specific filter, then it will always show for that filter. If you set it to "filled," then it pulls the setting for that column from the "None" (default) view.

Thank you, now that makes sense and clarification for problems I have been having and a way to fix it. :D :D

Thanks, that's useful to know!
