DB Drive Changer for MM3

Post by tatoosh »

MediaMonkey3 DB Drive Changer v0.2 - released 2009/09/30
--------------
Here I build a new version because of some bugs:
Works on my Win7 x86 nice.
Attention: The software looks for SerialNumber from your Harddrives and ONLY set new value where the drive IDMedia is = 3 !!

If you need another value i can implement it in a new version.

-----
Desciption:
With this little software you can change the Volumen Serial ID (which will be created for each partition) directly in your MM.DB file.
Use for: The new drive label and the folderstructure should be the same like before. Only the drive letter has changed.
Example: you want to change your mp3s from one local drive to an external drive.

1. open Database
2. choose a Drive from the list on the right side, where your files has moved to
the Volumen Serial ID will be shown
3. press Button: set Vol# to DB
this will set the Volumen Serial ID to your MediaMonkey3 database-file through sqlite statements in table MEDIAS under IDMedia with value 3 to the new drive Volumen ID.

Hope you understand it ;)

Hi,

I thought I'd test this out, but...

When clicking on "refresh DB" I get an "Error, no file chosen!" followed by another error message. I have moved to a new computer and I have the DB in a non-standard location.

Hello,

I followed the below steps but it didnt make any difference. On clicking refresh DB it showed the same details. Also the songs are still greyed out.
1. open Database
2. choose a Drive from the list on the right side, where your files has moved to
the Volumen Serial ID will be shown
3. press Button: set Vol# to DB

I believe after clicking set Vol# to DB it needs to have a popup which tells me that it has completed updating it.

If this works it will be the most simplest tool to achieve this result. :)
Scripts I use: Advanced Report

I was just wondering how long the switch is supposed to take? Is it supposed to be instantaneous or should I let it sit for awhile? I have tried to use it and it seems to have changed the file path for some of the songs but not all of them. I was curious to know if that was caused by it not working properly or by my impatience.
