Creating MP3 CD-Song names do not show
Hello. I normally use Roxio to create a mp3 CD and just burn as a data CD but I tried creating a mp3 CD using MediaMonkey but I noticed that the names of the songs did not display in the car mp3 player. If I create a data cd with roxio the names all show on the read out. Is there a way to use MediaMonkey and have the names appear on the digital read out? thanks

if you have use cd text turned on then i think it will burn the names when you burn a data cdrom. if not then monkey can't do that, and you will have to also export your burn list as a m3u list and then open it with notepad and remove all the pathways to the files on your computer. and change the pathways by typing in the file system used on the data cdrom if you use one there. then just use another back up program to burn the m3u list to the disk putting it just on the disk as the first file seen, meaning if you have the mp3 files in folders on the disk, dont put the m3u list in any folder then the list will be found and used if your car can use m3u playlists.
but if you just put the mp3 on your disks without them in the folders, then don't put anything in the m3u list other then the name of the file. and you can do that with out exporting from monkey. unless you have 100 or so files on the disk. then it will be tiresome to type that many file names. but you could control the play order too that way.

I'd be interested to hear confirmation of that. Because CD-TEXT is a feature only of RedBook Audio CDs, not of CD-ROMs.

Find out what version of mp3 tags the Roxio reads. Perhaps it only reads ID3v1 tags and you just need to sync your database to ID3v1 tags.Rayi23 wrote:Hello. Re: Creating MP3 CD-Song names do not show
CD text seems to only apply to burning a music CD and not mp3 disc. I didn't see a CD text option for burning a mp3 disc. It seems like there should be simpler solution than the ones suggested; otherwise, I guess I will just continue to use Roxio; although, Roxio data works better with whole albums and kind of pain with individual songs.chrisjj wrote:> if you have use cd text turned on then i think it will burn the names when you burn a data cdrom.

Nor I - none was expected.

I tend to think there must be a simple solution. The text displayed by your player is surely just the MP3 tag info, and TMK MM does not change this upon a burn. Are you sure these MP3 have tag info? E.g. are they the same files that show text fine in the Roxio burn?

Re: Creating MP3 CD-Song names do not show
I have the tag info because I need the info to see what the song is in MediaMonkey; otherwise it would just be blank, so I am not sure what you would actually mean by "Are you sure these MP3 have tag info". How would I know what it is in Media the Monkey Library? Am I missing something here? thanks for taking the time.chrisjj wrote:> I didn't see a CD text option for burning a mp3 disc.

Then yes you have the tag info. Are they the same files that show text fine in the Roxio burn?

I think that has no bearing on what gets written to the CD.

Basically yes without actually checking everything but what bothers me is that none of the names show. I know for sure that I have used some of the songs in Roxio. I have filled up a CD with mp3 songs using Roxio in Data mode and all the songs show up in my Ford mp3 player but it's a lot of trouble which is why I decided to give MediaMonkey a try. I'm surprised it has not come up as an issue, unless it's just me.

Yup, it would bother me too. Sorry I cannot suggest anything further.

well i said i thought it would. i did not say for sure it did, so that part was just a wondering idea that floated in when i was typing the message. i'll try to put a net up to catch them in flight from now on.chrisjj wrote:> if you have use cd text turned on then i think it will burn the names when you burn a data cdrom.

Re: Creating MP3 CD-Song names do not show
did you type in the info for the song in monkey after you ripped or loaded the songs in the computer.?
if you just typed them in, monkey should have added them to the tags. but might not have
use the library node for files to edit and then use the unsync.. tags node to see what tags are listed in monkeys database but not filled in on the song files.
then just select them all and go to tools then on that menu go to advanced tag management then click sync tags.
it will make sure the info in the database is then sync'ed to the tags.
that is the only way i can think of it not showing if your system is reading the tags.

Re: Creating MP3 CD-Song names do not show
Thanks. That worked. I always learning something about MediaMonkey. I noticed that I can rearrange the order and have the song first, followed by the Artist. This will make making mp3 discs much easier; although, sometimes I like to create folders like Country, Rock, Jazz, etc, I imagine that it has to be done the long way using Roxio data mode to have that.rovingcowboy wrote:did you type in the info for the song in monkey after you ripped or loaded the songs in the computer.?

Note: that indicates yoiu were not burning the same files with Roxio and MM.

yep that is what it would seem like but i remember others posting they had tag errors with flac and some other
program where the flac showed up there but not in meidamonkey or was that not in mediamonkey but in the other program? but still the tags were being made different by one program i think that other one, and the monkey did not read that location. so it too could be the story here the tag was being made in another location in the file and monkey did not read that location.
