okay i'll get it and send it to you but i thought since i found it was the numbers in the text fields causing it that you would not need to see it. i can type it out here too. but screen shot will be faster all though i can't paste it in the forum.

Re: 3.1.2.1272 Sort orders in AutoPlaylist not work properly
I will try to explain step by step:
1. Take any playlist and name it Test Playlist

2. Create a new AutoPlaylist with the name of Auto-Artist

3. Now create a new AutoPlaylist "Auto Artist + Bitrate"

4. Now create a new AutoPlaylist "Auto Artist + Bitrate + Length"

5. And now try to recreate the same sequence in one AutoPlaylist. Let's call it "Bug Auto Artist + Bitrate + Length"

"Bug Auto Artist + Bitrate + Length" and "Auto Artist + Bitrate + Length" should be the same!
But it is not so!
This is because the MM sorting rules are not applied in order from top to bottom, but rather from the bottom up.
This needs to be fixed!!!
6. In confirmation of my words, create the "Upside-Down Bug Auto Lenght + Bitrate + Artist"

"Auto Artist + Bitrate + Length" and "Upside-Down Bug Auto Lenght + Bitrate + Artist" is exactly the same as a result.

Re: 3.1.2.1272 Sort orders in AutoPlaylist not work properly
Each playlist has it's own sort criteria. It DOES NOT build on any other sort criteria that applies to the other playlists you are pulling in.
Think of it as when you pull a playlist into another, it is JUST the songs that are coming, not the sorting.
Oh and btw, that's the way I would expect MM to do it as well, and I actually use this capability to build my complex playlists.
Hey, great work documenting your thinking.

Re: 3.1.2.1272 Sort orders in AutoPlaylist not work properly
i thought you could change the display a - z in the auto sort rule?
anyway mine error was found that i had forgot to include the track number that is why it did not put them on the album and keep them there.

Голословное утверждение... Сначала вникни глубже в то, как работает сортировка, и в особенности в то, как сортируется список по нескольким критериям. Потом делай утверждения как обрабатываются критерии сортировки из списков, входящих как условия авто-списка.Anubis wrote:...Each playlist has it's own sort criteria.

Blyat, I'm sitting on dick MM already knows how much, and I use auto-lists about three years, accounting for complex rules and consistency. And until some time it worked fine. But recently I had to turn upside down all the sort orders that all those GETS my auto-lists show the same, the previous result.
Is it so difficult to spend a little time and experiment with avtospiskami, to understand the intricacies of their complex work of sorting, and then assert that everything is OK?
Shit, already "on his fingers" explained everything ...
I'll wait for the Russian-language forum MM. There's talk, to argue with their compatriots. And here, I feel, through the dictionary zaebeshsya explain something to prove.
Re: 3.1.2.1272 Sort orders in AutoPlaylist not work properly
Can you install an earlier version of MM 3.x and try the same auto-playlist sorts?
Re: 3.1.2.1272 Sort orders in AutoPlaylist not work properly
I think that Anubis is right.
Each auto-playlist always used its own sort rules and overriden sort rules of the referenced playlists.
It is 3 years I have added the condition: http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=1987
and I don't remember that the sort orders of the referenced playlists would be ever used.

Re: 3.1.2.1272 Sort orders in AutoPlaylist not work properly
KJIACC,
Although I agree with Ludek and Anubis about how this works, your ideas got me thinking about the fact that it would be really useful if MM would play child playlists in the order in which the user selects them, so that a rotation of tracks can be played in the order desired by the user (the order of playlists within a parent playlist that is unsorted is always alphabetical).
We've added this at:
http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=1459
Thanks.

Re: 3.1.2.1272 Sort orders in AutoPlaylist not work properly
Oh, I would love this feature...
I have asked for something similar previously...
http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... =4&t=28828
Any chance it will be in 1281?

I was hoping so, but it's a little more complicated than expected...

Re: 3.1.2.1272 Sort orders in AutoPlaylist not work properly
OK.
Attempt number 2.
Do the following:
Take any your playlist "X" and click successively on the column headings (manual sorting):
1.Length (A-Z) 2.Bitrate (A-Z) 3.Artist (A-Z)
Remember the sequence of tracks!
Now create AutoPlaylist -> Advanced > Search Criteria: Playlist "X" > Sort Order: 1.Length (A-Z) 2.Bitrate (A-Z) 3.Artist (A-Z)
The result completely different!
Now turn the opposite order -> Edit AutoPlaylist > Sort Order: 1.Artist (A-Z) 2.Bitrate (A-Z) 3.Length (A-Z)
We got the same result as in the case of manual sorting (correct result)
You can repeat this experiment (manual, then auto-sorting) with any other criteria for sorting and any of their number. The result will be the same (always have to flip the sort order upside down)
Conclusion:
In MM AutoPlaylists for the correct result sort order should always rotate. This must be corrected.

You have to Ctrl-Click on the column headings for a compound sort.

Why compound? We make a consistent sort order.Owyn wrote:You have to Ctrl-Click on the column headings for a compound sort.
