is there an answer to this question?
The iPhone/Touch never had this option, only older gen iPods.

is there a good way to recover from a failed sync, ie MM freezes and leaves touch/phone database fubar?

Do you have iTunes installed? Usually a restore works if iTunes can recognize the iPhone/Touch, then restore from your latest backup. If not, I don't know what you could do, perhaps someone more experienced knows.

Is 3.1.2 supported yet? I've done a restore of my device and i can't get MM to recognize the device. It sees the name in the preferences, but doesn't appear in tree view.

Is 3.1.2 supported yet?
On my 3G 16GB FW 3.1.2 it runs nice (tested with MM3 beta 1277). Sometimes my Music is lost after sync with iTunes, so i solved myself by putting all song in a seperat playlist that will be sync with my 3G.

But i noticed some playback issues. Sometime a song plays faster than normal. I don't know if that is a iPhone FW bug oder if that is the resulted by syncinc with MM3.

Does anyone has the same problem that music sometimes play faster than normal ?

backup/restore works, but is a pain in the ass and should be completely unnecessary, MM should handle/fix this issue itself.

But if your database is fubar, what else is the alternative if you want to use your phone with no glitches?

Until MM fully supports 3.0+, and not just in beta, iTunes may still be the best sync option with no glitches. It sucks but Apple likely planned it this way. They've likely made it deliberately harder for third party sync software to get the database just right, and jailbreakers too may have some trouble. Notice how they keep changing the software and firmware a bit too often lately? They claim it's only to fix bugs but notice how they rework everything so stuff breaks? A simple bug fix shouldn't require a 91MB iTunes download and whole new firmware that breaks things.

Just installed 1282 RC-2...

I have the new 64gb iTouch. All seems to be working well except my cover art that is stored in the mp3 tags is still not transferring to the touch when I sync. I've checked the files in my library and the art work is embedded in the tag. When I check the properties of a file on the touch they all show no artwork.

However the art work does transfer and shows up on the touch when I sync with iTunes, just not with MM. I despise working with iTunes.

Any ideas??

That's because MM reads the track data from the iPod database, not from the track tags when reading tracks from iPods (I think). So its rather expected that you don't see the art in the file properties. It should still display fine on the touch, because MM creates the iPod art database which the iPod reads art from.

You are correct!! For some reason I didn't check the actual touch, just assumed that it wasn't there b/c it wasn't showing up in MM.

Thnx!!!

Where are various versions of diphone.dll?

Post by guptaas »

Win7 64 bit + MM Beta 3.1.2.1280 + AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi installed without itunes + iPhone 3GS 32.
Can't even see the device in MM. Do I need to download some specific version of diphone.dll from somewhere. If yes, where?

No, the included one with the beta should be fine. You might have to install iTunes and Quicktime.
