Hi.
I am an avid MediaMonkey user (purchased latest 2 versions) on a Vista PC and I have hundreds of songs with different ratings. I have noticed that those ratings are also visible on Windows Media Player (I can't understand how but it seems that WM player and MediaMonkey have a common ratings protocol among mp3s).
I purchased iPhone some time ago and what I did was to create a playlist (e.g. 2iPhone) on WM player, and import that playlist on iTunes. This worked but it created duplicate tracks (not physical on the hard disk, but on the library).
I couldn't find a proper way to remove those playlist duplicates so I am thinking to start again, maybe in a proper way. That is why I erased my iTunes library.
I don't want to sync between MM and iPhone because last time I had a hard time recovering a dead iPhone. On the other hand, I can't stop using MM because it is the best mp3 player around.
What should I do to transfer all the ratings from MediaMonky or WM player to iTunes library? I want only top-rated songs to be transfered to my iPhone.
and, is there any way I can modify ratings on MediaMonkey and reflect on iTunes library (this is a very long shot, I know)
thanks,
Chris

There isn't any easy way to do this because iTunes does everything they can to prevent its users from using other applications - so they do everything in their own proprietary way and hide how to make things compatible with it.xpan wrote: and, is there any way I can modify ratings on MediaMonkey and reflect on iTunes library (this is a very long shot, I know)

...I thought so. That is why I will never buy an Apple computer (although iPhone is a nice phone)nohitter151 wrote:There isn't any easy way to do this because iTunes does everything they can to prevent its users from using other applications - so they do everything in their own proprietary way and hide how to make things compatible with it.xpan wrote: and, is there any way I can modify ratings on MediaMonkey and reflect on iTunes library (this is a very long shot, I know)

Any news concerning my first question? The only option I have though of is to use MM and extract all the top-rated songs to another folder (i.e. iPhone Sync) and import only this folder to iTunes as my iTunes library. This is going to cost me more than 10Gigs of disk space.

You can use Markstuartwalker's Export to iTunes script to sync your ratings and playcounts back and forth between MM and iTunes.
