When I rip a CD it takes an extremely long time compared to Itunes. Both run at 100% CPU. I have the CD Reader set to maximum. I put the .vbs script in to have no playlists. I set the background tasks to normal.
Should the read option interface be SPTI for XP Pro? What about 24 sectors for the buffer size?
Anything else I could be doing wrong?
ripping cd's very slow

Itunes ripping faster?
I'm ripping it to MP3 and 192 kbps standard vbr. It is a lot faster if I choose Extreme Fast 256 kbps. Am I not comparing apples to apples with Itunes? I'm also ripping at 192kbps standard vbr with a quality of medium in Itunes.

Re: Itunes ripping faster?
Have you looked at using other ripping programs such as EAC or CDex? I encode with LAME using the --alt-preset-extreme and it takes about 5 to 6 min/CD. HydrogenAudio has a wealth of information regarding ripping using either CDex or EAC http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=Main_Pagedbaps wrote:I'm ripping it to MP3 and 192 kbps standard vbr. Try a couple CDs following their recommendations, the file size vs. sound is impressive. If you have MM Gold, with File Monitor the tracks are added to the database regardless of the program that you use to encode them (see a recent discussion on this, .http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5612
