This is a really cool idea. I had a similar idea, which I believe I submitted a while back (or just dreamed it):
An icon or sticky for the 'current playlist' (either a new one or a selected one). Either drag 'n drop a song on to it, or click on it and the selected song(s) get added. Something like that would be a real treat.
MM Gold since 2005
MMA Pro since 7/14

The only thing to do with good advice is pass it on. It is never any use to oneself.

So is there a solution to this problem yet? If so, can someone please email me the steps to have a playlist and the now playing window open at the same time, in order for drag and drop capabilities?

No real solution that I've seen other than MM being a major PITA on manually creating and editing playlists. I'm starting to wonder if I should start to look into using Windows Media Player as my dedicated playlist creator/editor and then save them as M3U and import those into MM. I love everything else about MM, but this is the one thing that frustrates me.

I have never even really looked into my WMP, is that an easy place to create playlists? I should give it a try.

That's what I was using before I started using MM, because I never really needed something with all the features that MM has....but then I bought an iPod and my needs changed and I hate everything about iTunes. But yeah, WMP allows you to do drag and drop from your music library into a dedicated playlist window as well as most other media players with Playlist support. Then you save the playlist in a specified format to a location on your HDD.

Like I said, I love all the great features that MM has, but working with Playlists really needs to be worked on. I originally thought I was doing something wrong or over looking something the 1st time I tried creating Playlists in MM since drag and drop is such a fundamental function that even early versions of WMP had it. You can even drag and drop media files from the Windows explorer into the Playlist view in WMP.

Hello RedRoll, came across this subject kinda late, but I totally agree with you 100 percent, I also use my several different playlists, some very very long, some very short, on my Ipod Nano to easily plugin for different music occasions, to be able to simply drag N Drop files into specific playlists would be just so much easier and less time consuming.
Even MM 4 still is very very slow in dragging files from bottom to to top of a very long playlist, just so much easier in other Major players.Hopefully MM will fix this very soon!

Hopefully, eventually this kind of drag and Drop functionality will make it into the Playlist Editor view for MM. The more your music collection grows, the more Playlists start becoming an important aspect for you listening needs. So then, arranging the order of those songs in the playlists then becomes an important feature and MM's current arrangement of song order could definitely use some improvement.

Thanks for the support!! :D

Going back and reading some of mine and rovingcowboy's discussions, I see he mentioned that a tabs function might work well for this. So MM v4.0 now has these Tabs....it's time to revisit this and see if that is now a good solution.
