On my sonos system I can add tracks from napster (that are streamed live over the internet from napsters servers) to my playlists. The playlists can also contain tracks I have stored on my NAS at home. When I play my playlist on the sonos it plays seamlessly and whether the track was actually streamed live from napster or from my NAS is irrelevant so long as my Napster subscription is upto date. The hyperlink that napster provides to the sonos system (to play the streamed track) does not expire and so once stored in a playlist they are there for whenever the playlist is used.
That is all fantastic but Sonos does not provide any rating or music management features (yet) hence I would like to be able to use the napster streamed tracks in my auto playlists and rate them and sort/filter them as I do all my music files (mp3's and FLAC's) stored on my NAS.
This would only require the ability for the MM database to store the hyper links from napster. Sonos have shown it is possible to store valid links to track streams on napster so can media monkey please add the ability to add these links to the music library. Then we could rate, classify, creat playlists and play them as we do music files stored locally. A £5 per month subscription would then give MM users access to Napsters current 8 Million tracks !!
Thank you

Re: Napster Integration, like sonos have done
Does nobody else agree with this request? I am amazed!!!
For £5 a month (napster fee) plus media monkey adding napster integration you could expand your music library to over 8 million tracks (streamed from napster). You wouldn't have to buy music anymore (appart from paying the napster fee £60 a year, I used to spend more than that on CD's!), you would just use MM as you do now rating your favourite music etc. The only difference is the music is held by napster rather on your own NAS. With Napster you get access to new releases imediately and your music collection becomes as big as napsters.
To achieve this MM needs to store the napster track hyperlinks in the MM database instead of the path to the file on your NAS. MM also needs to give you a way of searching for tracks on napster and adding them to your MM library. Sonos have done this so it is already possible, it just needs MM to implement it.
MM+Napster integrated would obliterate the competition (itunes) unless of course itunes or A.N.Other do it first. Sadly although the Sonos software provides all the Napster integration and the ability to add napster tracks to playlists, it doesnt provide the MM features of rating/clasifying tracks etc. It only allows you to build playlists which can contain tracks either locally stored (i.e. on a NAS) or streamed (e.g. NAPSTER).
If you want this functionality please say so, else it won't happen.

I'd much rather see seamless Amazon.com integration, so you can actually own the purchases you make.

Re: Napster Integration, like sonos have done
I'm also keen to see some Napster integration, although I'm coming at it from a slightly different angle. I listen to a lot of Internet radio though MediaMonkey and when I hear a track that I like, I'd like to be able to search for it on Napster - either to find/save a link to the track, or to download it (using one of the 5 download credits that comes with the £5 / month subscription)
I can't see a way to do that currently (apart from the manual process of noting the track, firing up Napster and searching for it)
