Recheck antivirus app if it added MediaMonkey.exe to false untrusted apps (There were reports of that in the past and all were AV app false positives) as non skinned version is working. It is your system I tested on two PCs today with Free MM version and all worked OK. AV all PCs are running is Microsoft Security Essentials.

Hi,

I just wanted to add that I am having a similar issue. I too can only run MediaMonkey by running it as Administrator. However, the error I get when running MM normally is a MM dialog box that says only "Runtime error 217 at 00469DFD" with only the option to click "OK". Also different is the fact that I cannot get away with running MediaMonkey (non-skinned).exe without the same error message. I am running Win 7 x64 and this setup was working perfectly for MM for a couple of months of heavy usage and all of a sudden about 2 weeks ago it would no longer open unless run as Administrator :(.

I previously contacted customer support about this and ran through the similar suggestions that I've read on this thread: uninstall, delete everything in Program Files (x86) and AppData, and reinstall by running the setup program as Administrator. This, of course, does not seem to help any with my error.

I appreciate the tip I read in this thread about permanently marking the .exe for "Run as Administrator" mode because that's slightly easier than having to right click on MM and "Run as Administrator" every time I want to listen to my music - but it still sucks having to type in my admin password every time I run MM. I also tried adding "full control" privileges to my user/account for the MediaMonkey.exe program using the security tab of the windows file properties dialog... but that does not seem to work still. Does that mean there is something more than file permissions at work here?

I'm going to keep poking around for a work around... glad to see some chatter about this type of thing. I'd certainly love to see a version of MM that doesn't need to muck around with files in secure parts of the OS. Win 7 and UAC is the future after all - as well it should have been for the last 20 years.

Thanks

we are currently in 2010 - and by the dates on previous posts - this is a problem that goes way back????
I am not technical - I just need a patch or something that will fix the problem.
If it wasn't that monkey media offered me a better filing system for my musick (30 000), I would have sticked to windows media player
ps: I do not have an ipod :(

Not sure if this helps anyone, but I was having a similar problem. The latest skinned version would not work with or without admin privs (but the non-skinned version would work). The d_iphone.dll trick did nothing. Reinstallation as admin did nothing. But I figured out that a program I was running which was manipulating the window (WindowTabs) was causing the problem. I closed that and everything worked properly. So, this is just something to consider if you're encountering a similar problem.

I just tried to upgrade from 3.2.2 to 3.2.3 and ran into this error after upgrading. I uninstalled 3.2.3 and reinstalled 3.2.2 and had the same problem. The only way I was able to fix it was to do a System Restore to prior to the upgrade. Very strange since I haven't modified anything related to MM or Quicktime recently. I think I'll hold off on upgrading until some solution to this problem is found.

I have same problem after upgrading from 3.2.2 to 3.2.4

I have noticed alot of links in the explorer like "Application Data" that at links to
directories /users/username/Application Data but they do not exist.....

I am runing windows 7, fully patched then updated MM today (14-12-2010) I
wonder where those links camed from.... did they upset the installer.....
Tried removing everything and reinstalling still get the stopped message....

#1 export all your play lists! Rename your library and start over is a suggestion. Your tags and ratings are still in your tunes so if you don't have tons of extras, start over. At least you can see if the new DB works fine. If you use the truncate in MM or what ever it is that is the worst thing you can do. Maybe it is only a problem if you DB is corrupt but that is the only time you would use it. The removal leaves odd and ends all over the place. If it doesn't work out rename your back up.

Sorry to bring back an old thread but I am getting this stupid error. I recently did a clean install Media Monkey was working just fine as it always did before. The day after I hooked up an iPod to the stupid machine I started getting this error: "Audio library has stopped working." This causes Media Monkey to crash completely when starting up. I tried every fix I read in these forums: deleted / renamed the Iphone and ipod dll's, completely uninstalled Media Monkey and reinstalled with administrator rights (even though UAC is turned off), I then tried the same thing again but deleted every piece of mediamonkey manually from the entire hdd and from the registry, I also uninstalled iTunes and Quicktime completely, tried reinstalling them as well, tried running old copies of MediaMonkey, and even tried running as administrator as people suggested.

The single thing that works for me...running the unskinned version, which looks like sh*t. Is there any other solution out there?? I am not doing another reinstall of Windows for this program despite the fact that I have no found another program as good as this for music management.

I am running Windows 7 64-bit with all updates, latest flash, latest Quicktime, latest iTunes, and latest MediaMonkey.
