Why is MM3 so easy to crash?

This forum is for reporting bugs in MediaMonkey for Windows 4. Note that version 4 is no longer actively maintained as it has been replaced by version 5.

Why is MM3 so easy to crash?

Post by Whiznot »

I can crash MM3 with three mouse clicks at any time. One click to pause the current song followed by a double click on some other song. MM2 will never crash so easily. I am running the most recent non-beta of MM3. Why has this bug never been addressed?

I dual boot Windows 7 and Windows XP SP3. The behavior described above has been present on both OS installs and has existed on every version of MM3 that I've run on many different Windows installs.

That isn't reproducible on my system. Why don't you get a debug log and maybe it can show more about what is going on: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=69

OK, I installed the same latest MM3 with bug reporting and purposely locked MM3 as described above. After a while the report window opened but when I tried to use it the window started flashing like crazy and a lot of duplicate items appeared on the task bar. Eventually I was able to send the report. In fact I think MM3 sent numerous bug reports some of which might not include my message. It kept repeating message sent. At least one report included how I got MM3 to freeze along with my email address and my logon name, Whiznot.

Thanks guys. Buying lifetime MM Gold was one of the best decisions I ever made.

You might want to open dbgview first, reproduce the bug and then send the debug log dbgview has created as instructed in the debug thread. This is probably more useful as it logs all events.

I am now using DbgView to create the log file and I'll send to the help desk when finished.

Edit: I sent a support ticket and browsed to the log file and submitted the log and a copy of my first post in this thread. I also included my email address.

Well, I had to submit another ticket because I neglected to zip the log file the first time.
