Musical Note Image

I'm having a problem with a "front cover" of a musical note image displaying for all of my tracks when I'm looking at the track properties. This is true whether the track has an actual image or not. When there is an actual image, two images show in the album art properties, the blank and the real one. Is there a setting causing this? I've been searching both through the settings and through the forums but can't seem to find an answer to this. Any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated!

P.S. - I'm running Windows Vista. My laptop has Windows XP and I don't have the problem there and all of the settings seem to be the same. I am using 3.2.1.1297 on the Vista machine and the next earlier version on the XP machine.

That means MediaMonkey can't find the image, were these maybe external images that no longer exist? You can delete this empty images to get MediaMonkey to show the real images again.

Thank you for your reply. The valid images are all internal (in the file tags) and they display in the art viewer window but when I look the tag properties I also see the
blank music note image shown. Since these files were updated from the other computer (which does not have the blank music note images) I thought the problem might be some setting I'm overlooking. If it isn't a setting, I have no idea what's causing the problem. In any case, when I use another program to look at the files, the music note images are not in the files and when I use explorer to look at the directory, there are no images there either. Also, FWIW, the option "Scan track directories for album art is unchecked".

Hover the mouse over the '?' image(s), it will show you exactly where MM is looking for the image.

The actual image in the tag show that it is in the tag. The music note image says it comes from folder.jpg yet no such file actually shows in path shown for folder.jpg in Windows Explorer even with "show hidden files and folders" checked. This is really puzzling. The music is in my public directory on this PC. Is there some setting causing this?

That's why the '?' is there, because it can't find the image. It was there at some point and MM knew it (perhaps you had "Scan track directories for album art" checked then) but later you deleted the image and changed the option.

I don't really understand the response. I just uninstalled and reinstalled MM and the music note art still shows. The "Scan track directories for album art" is not something I would use anyway because I never maintain album art other than in the tag.

In any case, is there any way to remove these short of editing all of my tracks?

LATER: Perhaps the database file (mm.db) wasn't deleted when I uninstalled the program. To verify, I just deleted it and am rescanning. So far it looks like the music note images are gone. Have to get to bed right now (4 a.m.) but will check when I wake up to confirm. Am crossing my fingers in the meantime!

That's right the MM.DB file is not deleted when you uninstall.

Possibly the album art's point to a file on that computer and can thus not be found.

what are the songs listed as being under?

as in what album type ?

single artist,

or

various artist,

i've got an error in monkey that he makes me change all my various artist albums to single song single artist albums, but still use the same album name of the various artist album.

he does this by removing the album art and the word various from the album artist tag.
all other tags are left alone.
so only way i can fix it is to make the album artist take the same as the artist tag.
and reload the album art.


so is that what you have happening too?

Deleting the mm.db and rescanning after making sure the above-mentioned option was unchecked solved the problem.
