MM3 help/tech suypport links broken? [6432]

Post by GSV3MiaC »

If I go to 'forum' or 'tech support' links from MM 'help' tool options I get sent to out of date locations where nothing exists (version 1297).

I also have the 'freedb not working' (either gets no data, or data is instantly lost) bug .. I see comment 'fixed in 1298', but I don't see when/where 1298 can be got from?

Thanks for that.

I think I'll head back to 1294 though, since I know that one worked OK, and still have the binary someplace. I've seen several weirdnesses with the releases 1297 .. when I did a bulk update of custom4 field (about 500 tracks) the program went away for an age before responding again, and I've been getting these interesting 'waiting for another program to complete an OLE action' bugs when accessing the database from VBA.

The behaviour of freedb database access is really odd - hitting the 'insert' key (to add CD tracks to the database) seems to result in some track being shows as 'blank', (even if they had been automatically updated correctly before) and some tracks getting the track names swapped with the artist, and all sorts. It used to work fairly well in the old days (1294 and prior). Maybe turning 'automatically query freedb (if online)' off would help (I usually leave it on). These days I am online all the time (isn't almost everyone?)

Yes, but it isn't a win7 problem (I'm still running XP) and the problem seems to happen MORE if/when I add tracks to library ('insert' key, drive E, works just the same as add/rescan).
As someone has said elsewhere, the visible info changes without any user actions, so something is off in the background querying, or re-querying, freedb, and messing things up.
There IS something weird going on because tracks shown with "title/artist" format in freedb (both in the title field, with the artist shown as 'various', e.g. compilation CDs) sometimes get magically split into correct title/artist (separate) fields by MM3, without running any scripts etc .. and then sometimes the same automagic action manages to blank the whole CD contents.
