christian,
you have to go thru all itunes settings and disable all auto-syncs related to music. mm documentation explains how to do that

Re: iPod Touch iOS4 / MM1299 - iTunes Clash
Has anyone else observed this problem (where subsequent to a sync with MM, content on the iPod(iOS4) changes to category 'other') with 3.2.2.1299 ?

Yes, I'm getting this on my iTouch 8GB/iOS4. All music sync settings have been disabled in iTunes, and I'm only using that to sync movies and apps.rusty wrote:Has anyone else observed this problem (where subsequent to a sync with MM, content on the iPod(iOS4) changes to category 'other') with 3.2.2.1299 ?

Something I've noticed is that corruption happens after iTunes attempts a sync after MediaMonkey is done syncing. That is, I auto-synchronize my playlists to the iTouch, then if I sync apps or otherwise interact with the iTouch with iTunes, all of my music is immediately reclassified as "Other" and becomes inaccessible. This can be avoided if you sync with MediaMonkey, disconnect the iTouch by directly yanking the cable (without using iTunes to eject), and then doing something to trigger an update of the music database (for instance, playing a song all the way through to increase playcount). Once this is done, you can reconnect to iTunes and sync movies and apps without music being reclassified.
Re: iPod Touch iOS4 / MM1299 - iTunes Clash
One other question: is volume analysis disabled in iTunes? (this is done by deselecting 'Soundcheck' on the Edit > Preferences > Playback panel in iTunes).
Thanks.

Hi guys,
My fear come true, my music library was perfect and my apps were all installed in the phone by it self.
But my books, i can't found other way to put it on, with out itunes, so i take a deep breath and open the itunes about a 20min. from now.
And All my music gone. Now it's won't recongnized as "other" this simply go, giving free space.
Please somebody help me, i want to cry for it, why we just can't use it, has it was made for?
Apple, a love and hate story. (I plannig to realease a book with that, lol -- no i'm not smile, it's sad)

Re: iPod Touch iOS4 / MM1299 - iTunes Clash
Sound Check is disabled in iTunes. I didn't like the constant clash between iTunes' volume normalization tagging and pretty much every other media player on my system, so made sure that it wasn't active. I do have Sound Check enabled on the iTouch, however, and use MediaMonkey to sync ReplayGain data.rusty wrote:One other question: is volume analysis disabled in iTunes? Note that you should have only either MediaMonkey or iTunes open at once in order to prevent problems. Is this your case?

My usual workflow:jiri wrote:Note that you should have only either MediaMonkey or iTunes open at once in order to prevent problems. Is this your case?
Jiri
- Attach iTouch. iTunes automatically opens.
- Close iTunes.
- Open MediaMonkey.
- Auto-sync playlists.
- Close MediaMonkey.
- Open iTunes.
- Auto-sync apps and manual sync movies.
- Disconnect via the Eject button.
It's at some point during the penultimate step that music gets converted to "Other." I'll have to check the Task Manager next time to make sure that the process is completely terminated to be sure each is completely out of the way of the other, though.
Re: iPod Touch iOS4 / MM1299 - iTunes Clash
i had, at one point, the 'other' issue. from memory i fixed this by setting 'manually manage music' in itunes. although i had to manually delete the 'other' files using DiskAid.
i THINK (and don't quote me on this) that if set to manually manage music then it uses a different file structure/naming convention on the iphone / ipod so as soon as itunes is managing the music all the files that MM put on (in the manual mode file structure) are 'ignored' and classed as 'other'.
setting itunes to manually manage music BEFORE syncing media monkey should resolve this.
if you already have your music marked as 'other then i suggest DiskAid to remove the files.
hope this makes sense?

Re: iPod Touch iOS4 / MM1299 - iTunes Clash
just to add:
if i have 'manually manage music' set in itunes then music get stored in: /iTunes_Control/Music/F00/xx.mp3 where F00 goes from F00 through to F49
with manually manage music turned off (ie iTunes controls adding music) then the music is stored in
actually, having said that, i don't seem to be able to reproduce the 'other' issue with the current build. perhaps this is an iPod only issue and not iphone?

Which was done. I'd set manually manage music as one of my very first actions after getting the iTouch.MaFt wrote:setting itunes to manually manage music BEFORE syncing media monkey should resolve this.

I initially purged the extra files with a full reset, but after that, started using iFunBox to delete them whenever this happens.
