Better track transitions.

I have problems with track transitions at the moment. I listen to dance music so perfect transitions are essential. I've changed the default audio output plugin to Realtec (my soundcard) but it makes no difference. I've been to the audio output plugins page http://www.mediamonkey.com/addons/input-output/ but I don't know if any of these will help.

Do you have any other suggestions for clearing this up please?

Is crossfading enabled? How about the equalizer, volume leveling, or DSPs? Which output plugin are you using?

Crossfading is disabled
Equalizer is set to my own custom setting
Volume levelling disabled
Don't know about DSPs
Output plugin is Realtec HD audio output

Did that. There is a tramsition still.

How do I figure this out? I went into sound settings but there was nothing like this.

That's because you access it via player --> configure current output plugin.
Try with: --> Tools --> Options --> Player --> Output plug-ins

Some users have reported having better results with using Waveout output instead of Mediamonkey directsound output and maximizing the buffers.
Could be something to try out.

Nice one. The transitions are almost perfect. There are three buffer settings here (buffer length, prebuffer, buffer-ahead of track change). Do I crank all of them up to the max? (P.s. I noticed that doing this changes how the player displays the time, I assume this is unavoidable.)

I think you will need to find the right tunning by yourself.
As I'm using the default values with the default output plugin I can't help you on this one.

You might be fine using the MMDS plugin if you disable the equalizer. I know the EQ can really mess with MM's stability and audio quality (at least in my experience).

Not really an option for me as I need to fine tune the Equalizer to reduce the bass down.

I think you will need to find the right tunning by yourself.

It's funny that this should be so much of a problem in this day and age. I assume it's the compression of the tracks? CD audio was always fine on a CD player in the old days.

You could at least try to disable the equalizer and see if the problem persists. If the equalizer is really the problem, you'll probably have better luck using a DSP plugin to reduce the bass rather than using the equalizer.

So that fixed the problem then?

You can use the DeFX DSP plugin (see the MM options) or install any of a million different DSP plugins. Here are some at the MM addons site:

And you can also google for Winamp DSP plugins since they are compatible with MM.
