Different column arrangement for different views? [#6722]

Post by Skyeam »

Hello,
Recently I switched to MM and I love it! However, there was something that annoyed me: the fact that you can't choose custom columns for different tree nodes. For example: When I click on "titles", I want to see the title as first column, then the author, followed by the rating, etc. And all of this in the details-view. But when I click on the "year"-node, I want my songs to appear in detail view too and have the year listed as my first column! However, I can't make the details view change according to which node I'm looking in.
Another example is that I want both "album" and "artist" in album art and details - view. But In the "album" node, I want album to be the first column and also have a year column, and in the "artist" mode I want to hide the year column and put the artist in the first column.

I hope you guys understand what I mean. I looked for a plug-in with this functionality, but I couldn't find one. Does someone has a solution to my problem?

Thanks!

PS: Are there plug-ins that give you more view-options than the current 3 (details, album art, album art and details)? (for example like in wmp 11, where all the albums of the same artist appear on top of each other when you choose the artist-node) And is there any way to customize the album art view (make the art bigger/smaller, name above art, ... )?

I'd like to see this, too. AFAIK, there's no way to do it right now, with or without extensions. Sounds like a good addition to the wishlist.

I think this would be a great addition as well. When i first started to using MM I also thought multiple column arrangements would be nice. But as far as I know there arent any scripts that will allow to do this. The only way is maybe by the use of filters. Filters allow u to choose different columns but it wouldn’t be as versatile as multiple column arrangements. So u may just have to organize the columns to suit all nodes.

I’m still also hoping for the addition of subgenres too :) .

I support this. As the original poster suggested, I would like to have Title first when looking at titles, Artist first when using the artist view, etc.

Is there any news yet of a script that can do this yet?

There is no way for scripts to implement this because MM script programming interface doesn't support that. I reported this 3+ years ago (Custom settings of track window layout?), and now I put request in Mantis, but I doubt that it would change anything.

IIRC, there was some script by MoDementia which allowed manual changing of filters, but it was just some kind of hack and not available anymore.

As long as we can still set it globally like right now.
