Nah, that would took too much time and also mostly it would work on single NAS Manufacturer and Firmware :(
not if you do linux, many nas support linux based apps/plugins

readynas, use an embedded version of debian for example

@ others, its not a UPNP but is linux based and may work on some nas, is nifty try @ http://www.subsonic.org

i use to stream to my android phone over 4g, directly from my readynas

the only thing I miss from mediamonkey is auto-dj/last.fm dj

@ peke, is/will/should UPNP be gold feature only?

From what I know it is not Gold Only Feature.

I am still wondering: will scrobbling to last.fm work when music is played through MM's UPNP/DLNA server? If i play a song on my PS3, streamed by MM's mediaserver, will it be scrobbled to last.fm?

rodie83, did you success in streaming from MM4 via DLNA?

Here, no way.

UPnP playback problems within MM4 (very happy to be testing :))

I have a Win 7 64 PC running Asset UPnP, a server, and MM4. Not too familiar with MM so please bear with me...

In MM4 the library navigation works ok, within the UPnP Servers branch I can navigate the tree view fine.
If I click on an album folder, the track list populates with tracks, no problem.
Double click a track and it starts playing, playlist is populated with all tracks from the album, no problem.
If I double click another track, in either the playlist or the track list, music stops and MM4 hangs.

I get exactly the same if I access the MM4 UPnP server (as I have activated MM4 media sharing, so MM4 as client is accessing same MM4 instance as server).

I installed MM4 4.0.0.1342 on my Vista 32 laptop, and using MM4 on there to access both Asset UPnP and MM server running on the PC, I get just the same again for both servers.

Thanks
Matt

Not yet, as it is broken in this build in combination with a PS3 as renderer. I believe it will be fixed next build.

I am very pleased to see MM4 to support UPNP. It is a very cool feature and works like a charm so far.

My Onkyo TX-NR708 AV-Receiver finds, the MM4 Server and plays music without problems. Browsing the media on MM4 Server works even much faster than browsing on Windows 7's DLNA-Server.

First I was disapointed about the poor sound quality, when streaming, but then I found (and deleted) the auto converter settings, which compress the stream to 128kBit-MP3. Now sound is very good.

The only missing feature like Windows MediePlayer's "Play to...", which lets me control the playback of my A/V-Receiver with the use of MM4. Maybe this could easily be handled with an output plugin "out_upnp.dll" ???

I do not intend to use MM4 to manage or stream my videos so far, so I did not test it.

hi all

I'm using Windows 7 and got a Roku Soundbridge. Sharing media is up and running and I can choose the MM4 library in my Soundbridge but can't browse by genre, just by Artist.

would be nice to browse by genre then album, or genre >artist >album

any other previous config needed or is this a new feature not supported?

1343: DLNA and PS3 not working

Post by Anubis »

1343, Win7 64 bit & PS3 (v3.55)

On my PS3, when I select music and select the MM DLNA server, I get an error message on the PS3 saying

Media Server Error: A DLNA protocol error (800) has occurred.

Just tried build 1343 and MLPlayer Lite on my iPhone 4 which works flawless (only tested music).
Just tried to change the default transcoding settings from mp3 to aac, for Media Link Player Lite to work you need to choose m4a! aac and mp4 don't work.

I don't have PS3, I only tested on xBox 360,
could you please try whether it works with XBMC or tVersity ?
They both uses same UPnP/DLNA engine (Platinum) so it would help me to find whether it is a problem with the engine or with MediaMonkey.

And if it works with XBMC or tVersity then generate debug log, please.

Thanks!

Yuck, XBMC is awful.
OK, that aside, my PS3 works better with XBMC then it does with MM4. Still not flawless.
With the PS3 I can actually connect to the XBMC server and browse the library and nodes. I can also select and play songs.
What this has shown is that 1) I don't like XMBC, and 2) I'm not sure I like the PS3's interface for playing music.
I think I'll stay with my WD TV Live, it's interface is great.

btw, my Sony TV 55HX800 can't see the XMBC server either, like MM4.

Ludek,

I have a PS3 to test, I can verify the problem. I've uploaded the debug log to ticket 7170.

I can see the MM DLNA server, but get the DLNA 800 error and the server appears empty. Everything is turned on under tools-options for sharing. Great idea, hope it works. Using Tversity and have used others as well. WOuld be great if MM can get this working. Note I had to do a lot of configuring to get Tversity to work on my new Samsung PN58C6500. Can't get MM to work on the TV either. Will you have a seperate config file that we can tweak for various devices?
