Classical music not being recognised
I have run into problems importing my music library into MM 4. Rock CDs and downloads have imported, but not classical music. In order to make the library more intuitive to use, I have change most directory names. So, when a CD has ripped to a directory named by the orchestra or conductor, I have changed the name to the composer (or moved the directory). That did not seem to cause a problem with MM 3, which worked perfectly.

Re: Classical music not being recognised
The problem in MM4 is that when I 'Add/Rescan files to the the library', no classical fies are brought in.
Re: Classical music not being recognised
Did you check under the Classical Music node if the music is there? You can also use the Entire Library node as all files in the Library are listed in that node.

I am not sure what you mean by the Calssical music node, but I cannot see 'Classical' in the side tree, which suggests it is not included as a genre - how do I add it. Also, when I scan for files, I get a results box that includes the words "Did not import xxx files (did not match import criteria".
Re: Classical music not being recognised
Go to Tools > Options > Media Tree and make sure Classical Music is enabled. After that you should see it as an available node in the Media Tree (Explorer Tree) and that's where you should find your classical music. Otherwise enable the Entire Library and see if the files can be found there.

Re: Classical music not being recognised
I was quite confused too for a while by this seemingly new behaviour in 1355.
The "problem" (that in fact is none...) is this:
Type and genre are different concepts in MM4.
When MM4 scans music with the genre "classical" it associates it with the type "classical music" and puts them in the collection "classical music".
In a clean installation (1355) this collection is visible by default (like: Music, Video, Podcast etc.)
If its not visible in your case:
Go to "Manage collections" and mark it there to make it visible.
If you don't use or like this association you can change the "type" "classical music" to "music" in the "properties" dialog
and your classical files will show up under "music" again...

MM5 (2606)and MM4 (1919) installed and running well on:
Debian 11 KDE, EndeavourOS KDE (wine 7.4 via playonlinux), Win10 64bit

Thank you for you help. I have to say, It does not seem all that logical, but it is relatively easy to work with once you know.

By the way is it possible to create new file "types", such as "Jazz music" for instance ? Looks like it isn't.
Thx.

No. You can create new collections, but not new types.Elena Fallas wrote:By the way is it possible to create new file "types", such as "Jazz music" for instance ? Looks like it isn't.

Re: Classical music not being recognised
Any chance that one will be able to create new types at some point? The 'type' has been the best feature of MM4 for me yet! How is it saved? in the files?
Re: Classical music not being recognised
Type might be customizable in the future, also see: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... 74#p299374
