I have just installed the latest MM4 beta..1358

I cannot get loads of my magicnodes to work...error messages regarding scripts keep popping up. I have tried the set of 300+ which came with MM and I also tried my own which I made under MM3.

Should MM3 magic nodes work with MM4? Is this just a bug in MM4 beta, or a problem with Magic Nodes?

1. What is the version of the Magic Nodes add-on you are using?
2. Have you changed something on the Magic Nodes tab in the Options dialog box?
3. Could you post the screen-shot of the error message box or the text of the error description and the line number where the error occurred?
4. Could you describe in which situations you are getting those errors and how to reproduce them?
5. Could you post the mask with which you are getting the error?

Many thanks Zvenda for your quick reply...unfortunately out of panic I went back to MM3.

I was using MagicNodes 4.0.4.

However, as a general principle, are you intending that MagicNodes created in MM3 should be compatible with MM4?

Thanks again for your reply. Much appreciated.

Yes, Magic Nodes' masks should be compatible with MM4. However, MM4 is still in beta stage and has some bugs that could be affecting Magic Nodes. I tried to fix them all, but some of them are not possible to fix without intervention of MM developers on the program.

Before you post some bug(s) please make sure that you have installed the latest version of the add-on. Magic Nodes v4.1 and v4.1.1 has fixed some bugs related to MM4, as you could see from the What Is New section in the first post.

My apologies if I've failed to find something already described; I did search, but there was a lot to go through.

How do I sync MN nodes to a device as playlists, without going to each one and exporting it or "Send to... / Playlist"?

Thanks.

You could sync MN node as playlist if you place that node in the Playlists branch using Position dropdown lists: Child of - Playlists or specifying Child of:Playlists|Position:Child of qualifiers in the MN mask. You need to do that for each MN node you want to sync as playlist, but this would be done just once. However, you need to know that MN nodes placed in the Playlists branch are updated only when you choose the Refresh Magic Node option from the tree context menu (or if you change the corresponding mask, of course).

There is the description about creating static playlists with Magic Nodes in the Information section (about 3.0/4.0 versions) in the first post of this thread.

That's great, thank you.

I am filled with shame. :)

I am pretty new to this stuff so bare with me. What I would like to do is make a rating column for albums. However I want a different icon depending on the rating I give it.

How would I go about making something like that? Thanks!

Sorry, I couldn't find an solution for this.

Disabling "Magic Nodes" in "Choose Tree Nodes" doesn't work for me.

It is not possible with any script/add-on. You need to post that request in the Wishlist forum, but I think that similar request already exists there.

It works fine here. Which version of the program and the add-on you are using?

Ah alright. Good to know. Sorry, I thought when I had posting this it was relevant to this plugin, but on a second look its not xD

MM 3.2.4.1304
Script 4.1.2

I remember I read something about this a long time ago, had something to do with settings in MediaMonkey.ini that you had to erase manually I think.

I remember that some users had missing "Magic Nodes" node because the mentioned "Choose Tree Nodes" option was somehow turned off for that node, but I cannot remember that someone had a problem as yours.

Do you want to say that "Magic Nodes" node is not hidden immediately after you turn off that option or it is hidden just temporary until some specific action? If the second is your case, then could you describe in which situations that node appears?

In my case, neither. It is just never hidden.
But, I booted up a virtual machine, clean install, Windows 7 SP1 x86.
Installed only latest MM and this script.
I kind of works. If I hide it and restart MM, it's not hidden while the tree node configuration says it is.

So, first the script has to be debugged before figuring out what is wrong with my settings.

Has "hidden just temporary until some specific action" been discussed else where?
