1373 seems to play MKV files (Blu-Ray) pretty well locally but still insists on converting MKV to WMV when streaming to other devices. I've tested this with both my WDTV Live and Oppo BDP-93 - the connection is wired gigabit Ethernet. The Oppo will eventually attempt playback but it's a frame at a time. I have the latest (1.11) codec pack installed and ffshow. It's like MM4's player finds the MKV codec okay but the server side can't find it. I'm including screenshots to show that the proper boxes seem to be checked within media sharing.

Reason:Fixed build number
Okay I unchecked the "convert unsupported" box and restarted MM4 and rebooted both of my devices. With the box unchecked and using "location" both show the folders as empty (they aren't empty I tested the files locally and through file sharing). Using "title" they both devices show the title but no content.
I believe that indicates the device doesn't support the format (at least that's how it works here). If another DLNA server is successful in serving these files to your devices you should create a debug log in MediaMonkey while trying to access the folder with the MKV files on your device and send it to support: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... ?f=6&t=341
That's why I'm testing with two devices. Both devices play MKV files just fine. As a test I played the exact same MKV file via a share using the WDTV live - that eliminates a device issue with the WDTV-Live and also eliminates the possibility of a corrupt file. I cant test the Oppo with shares but have tested it with an external drive. Because their chipset manufacturer refuses to support ISO for copyright reasons Oppo suggests serving up MKVs via DLNA (shares not supported). I don't have another MKV capable DLNA server handy. I'll figure out how to create a debug file and get it posted.
Understand that my sole reason for using MM4 over MM3.x is to serve up 24bit flacs to the Oppo. So far it's the only 24bit game in town. MKVs to to Oppo are just a bonus because I can always play MKV, ISO, MTS, and VOB files back over the WDTV Live via shares. I'm just trying to provide feedback to help the developers debug this feature.
My hunch is that maybe your devices can't do MKV over DLNA. This is why I asked if another DLNA server can do this, because if you can verify with another DLNA server that your devices have the capability then it clearly is a problem with MediaMonkey.
Just for grins I loaded MM4 on my laptop and tried the same test. MM4 on my laptop plays MKV files from the same share just fine, but would not play the same file from the MM4 DLNA server on my desktop. If the problem isn't the MM4 DLNA server then my WDTV Live, Oppo BDP-93, and MM4's player must all be incompatible with MKV over DLNA.
I suggest that you again try to play MKV over DLNA on laptop and that at the same time you run DBGView on both machines and submit both logs for this failure to support.
Just an fyi: prior to build 1376, MediaMonkey was unable to stream many formats, depending on what OS / format was being used (that's why playing the mkv over DLNA by a MediaMonkey client appeared to fail--it would play after downloading the content). See details at: http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=7299
That doesn't explain why the mkv file wasn't playable on your WDTV live, though.
My replacement SSD arrived today and I'm up and running again.
Preliminary testing (just a quick check) with 1377 has MKV showing up correctly as the media format on the Oppo BDP-93 and it seems to be playing fine. Preliminary testing with the WDTV live has it playing MKVs via 1377 just fine as well. Give me a day or two to test further before you lock the thread but based on only 15 minutes of testing I think you fixed it.
