Weird album art issue [#8255]

Postby mrallen » Mon Aug 15, 2011 12:26 pm

this issue started (for me) with the new builds starting from last month. I manually edit the info/art of each individual song, so the songs I started editing after installing the faulty build were affected by this problem. The art displayed fine on MM, but in the Windows 7 file explorer, it would have a distorted thumbnail, with different colors than the original album art. Even weirder, it wouldn't display on my Android device entirely (the art, not the .mp3 file) When I tried putting my music onto my Cowon D2, selecting the song would cause it to freeze up. I'm pretty sure that it has to do with the new build, because the rest of my library edited before the build installed (and mp3 files downloaded with album art included) display perfectly fine on my D2, Android device, and Windows Explorer.

Sorry that i can't be more specific about which build this problem began with.
Below is a screenshot showing the problem

Are you sure the tag doesn't have multiple images or that there aren't thumbnails saved to the folder as well?

Thanks for the reply! No multiple images tagged to them. Not sure where thumbnails would be stored, but I revealed the hidden files in my music library and deleted a whole bunch of album art jpgs, probably from iTunes. Anyways, it had no effect.

Could you please find the original file (from a backup or a similar one) and try to reproduce the issue with build 1419?
i.e. take the original (unaffected file) and edit with MM, if the issue remains then please send us the original file, this would be very helpful to fix the issue (if it still exists).

Installed build 1419, took a different .mp3 file that was unaffected by the bug, and changed the album art. Same thing occured.

Unaffected: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12904899/Ratatat%20-%20Lex%20%5Bunaffected%5D.mp3

Affected: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12904899/Ratatat%20-%20Lex%20%5Baffected%5D.mp3

Thank you, I downloaded both unaffected and affected MP3, but I cannot get the unaffected MP3 to the affected state, what are the exact steps?
Please make sure you are testing the newest build 1419 (similar issues have been already fixed recently)

BTW I added the issue to Mantis as http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=8255

I copy the image (Copy image, not the url) and paste in the edit tag window. That is all I do. and yes I used that build. I just installed an early build (build 1344) and the image came up back and white and distorted in MM so I changed the art in build 1344 and the art showed up fine in windows explorer

Just installed build 1421, but I got an error message when trying to delete or add a new album artwork image.

This (weird colours [#8255]) is still broken for me (or rebroken) in 1424.

It won't fix already tagged tracks, you'll need to re-tag them with art.
