Alac support

Post by aprzybylo »

I use alac encoding for all music I rip from cd as I need it to be played in iTunes for iPod sync ( I tried sync directly with mm but that solution was always problematic and long delays to support new apple releases make it even worse). However I use portable mm at work where I can't install apps I want. The problem is mm doesn't support alac even for playing (I don't care about encoding as I use iTunes for that ). I can't instal QuickTime what would solve this issue. I tried to install the mm codec but it doesn't solve the problem. I noticed that apple made alac open source late last year. Wouldn't then be possible to include alac encoding in standard mm release?

Yes but a year ago that was proprietary format. Now since November it's open source so should be much easier

That's not news to me. I've already posted that in the related ticket months ago.
