[1448] Some partymode issues [#8557,#8576]

Postby Onweerwolf » Tue Oct 25, 2011 8:14 am

There's a few things about party mode that don't work the way they should.

1) There is no party mode button on the toolbar, like in MM3, meaning that if you choose to hide the menu bar you can only exit if you remember the hot key, which i didn't, so I had to do a hard reboot because i also had the 'prevent switching to other application' set so no taskmanager escape.

2) If you auto-hide the context menu it returns to auto-show after closing party-mode.

3) If you enable 'full screen mode' and disable 'prevent switching to other application' you can still not switch to another application using alt+tab. With 'full screen mode' disabled it does work. Not sure if this is intended or not but it seems weird to me.

4) In total lockdown mode, the track that was selected before going into party mode can still be sent to a playlist.

-------

5) Not really a bug but rather a suggestion, currently scripts are still accessible in party mode, which could potentially do damage if a user doesn't know what he's doing. There should be some way to regulate this. Preferably optional choices for which scripts can still work, but at the least the option to shut down all script functions imo.

1) Yes there is
2) And? Isn't that expected?
3) It allows you to switch applications, it just doesn't show them because MM is always on top. Not sure if intended either.
4) How do you reproduce?

1) Then were is it supposed to be?

2) No, I don't want the context menu, so the fact that i've been in party mode shouldn't reset the setting to default where context menu shows.

3) I see, it's kind of useless this way, right? Or am I missing something?

4) Using 'send to' from the context menu.

That doesn't show up for me. Do I need to enable some part of the taskbar for that?

1) Nohitter seems to be showing it in the Context toolbar, but I don't have it either (1445 was fresh portable install), nor do I see it available as a button when configuring toolbars.

2) What do you call Context menu?

3) I think normally it would throw the Full Screen app out of full screen mode when switching applications. One solution here would be to go back to normal mode when switching applications.

5) An Global option in the Party Mode settings to disable all scripts or individual settings in the Extensions dialog could be a solution.

6) Application icon seems to be missing on XP in Party Mode.

The collection of icons that appear on the toolbar if you rightclick the toolbar and select 'context'. It contains 'play now' 'burn' 'edit', etc. I don't ever use those so I have them hidden, but party mode makes them reappear after party mode is closed.

I'm also able to replicate the problems with the incorrect Toolbar (some editing functions that shouldn't be there + missing party mode button).

Tracked at: http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=8576

Thanks.

partymode issue

Postby teddy » Sat May 19, 2012 9:31 am

Sorry to bring up an old thread, please move this post to a new thread if necessary.

I'm running 4.0.3.1476 (gold version). On WINDOWS XP.
I have both "disabled repositioning of dialogs and controls" and "hide menu bar" enabled.
However, I can still right click the empty menu bar at the top, and add in new toolbars.

On a related note, it would be absolutely brilliant if the following option could be added:
"Total Lockdown - only exception double-clicking a song to Play Last."

This would make for a 100% true jukebox setup :D

Hi Teddy,

How did you get the 'empty' menu bar to appear? I can't replicate the problem, but I suspect it's related to that empty menu bar...

Re. 'jukebox' mode, you can get that by checking off all the other party mode checkboxes. No?

Thanks Rusty, yes I have no idea how the empty menu bar got there. Problem is I have no idea how to get rid of it either.
Maybe XP is handling the window structure strangely. I'm assuming you guys are testing on later versions of Windows.

Even with all the party mode boxes checked, there is the ability to right click on the tracks and perform various functions (eg. searching for similar tracks, which then filters the song directory currently being displayed).

And I think there were other things that can clicked and changed (sorry I can't test at the moment).

Hi Teddy,
Re. the blank toolbar: When you're not in party mode, try right clicking on the menu bar > configure... That'll bring you to the toolbar configuration menu where you should be able to delete any toolbars that don't belong. If that fails, you can try uninstall/re-install.

Re. 'Jukebox mode' I've added an issue to track this for a future version of MM:

Thanks.

Thanks Rusty.

Following your suggestion if I right click menu bar -> configure - There a no toolbars listed.
I've done an uninstall/reinstall and this is what I get:

Regular mode

Party mode (with all options selected except "full lockdown") -
Empty light-grey menu bar is visible and right-clickable (note: mouse arrow has disappeared during screen grab)

Image

If I un-tick "Main Menu bar" option (located in VIEW menu) this is what I get in party mode:

Documenting undesirable changes that can still be made, using the above Party Mode settings:

1. Right-clicking a track in either the main browser or now playing area will produce a menu.

2. Right-clicking anywhere in this area will produce a menu:
Image

3. Referring to the above image, if you left-click the album cover, a large version of the album cover will pop-up on the screen.

4. Right-clicking the column headings (e.g. title, artist, album etc.) will produce a menu. This applies to both the Now Playing area and the main browser area.
Upon right-clicking one of the main browser column headings, the function "Manage Collections" becomes accessible, which actually allows you to enter the Media Monkey main "options" area. Obviously from there, you can do whatever you want, including disabling the Party Mode password requirement!!!
Party time!
