I am having the exact same problem using version 4.0.6.1501 (portable) on Win 7 (64 bit)

I can confirm that if I use File > Export to Playlist after selecting an album in the media tree, it works - I get a Save As dialog box.

However if i select the tracks in the main window and then use File > Export to Playlist I do not get a Save As dialog box. Also the dialog box is not hidden behind any window.

you are trying to make a playlist i think you need to make the playlist you want to export in mediamonkey first.

so select all the songs in the list view and right click on one of the selected songs then send to new playlist.

then go to that new playlist in the tree and view it. then select all the songs and use the file export to playlist link to send it to an m3u list.

see if that way works. 8)

Thanks for the reply RovingCowboy

I followed your suggested method and get exactly the same result as previously advised - Export to Playist only works with a selection in the Media Tree and does not work with selections in the List View.

For example; I selected all the songs in the list view and right click on one of the selected songs and send to new playlist. I then went to the new playlist in the Media Tree and used File > Export to Playlst and nothing happens and there are no hidden windows/dialog boxes.

However, if I select the newly created playlist in the Media Tree and use File > Export to Playlist it works - I get the Save As dialog box and can export/save the playlist.

and did you select the files on the Playlist?

I'm struggling to understand the difference between the 2 quotes above.

PS. you don't need to create a Playlist in MediaMonkey of selected files to be able to export the playlist. The export should works on any selection of files.

Lowlander, sorry if I did not explin myself properly.

1. Yes I did select the files in the playlist

2. I know you do not need to create a playlist to export a playlist -I was just following Rovingcowboys suggested method

What happens with your set up if you;
a) Select an album listed under the Album Media Tree node (ie. left click on the album name) and then File > Export to Playlist (Ctrl - E)
b) Select all the individual tracks/files for this album (right side of screen) and then File > Export to Playlist (Ctrl - E)

In my case
a) works - I get Save As dialog box and the playlist for the entire alum is created.
b) does not work - I do not get Save As dialog box and there are no hidden windows

b is what I was trying and works as expected on 4.0.7.1505 for me.

You can try right clicking on the selected files and use Send To > M3U/XSPF Playlist

it does not work. it works if the whole album is selected in the media tree, but if he wanted to select individual tracks from the main window, say five tracks from an album, which cannot be done from the media tree it does not work.

is exactally the same for me.

Lowlander - updated to 4.07.1505 and just like seed_or_die it has made no difference - I still cannot create a playlist after selecting individual tracks in the main window.

Like I said earlier
