sync with samsung S3 syncs songs already on device
Each Sync is alway copying all the songs that are already on the device, and thus taking an awful lot of time. How can I avoid this?

And you're using AutoSync (as it's the only way to prevent re-copying)?

i have this EXACT same issue with my S3 and i use autosync..i have the same version as the OP and the ONLY way i have been able to sync my S3 correctly is to remove the SD card and put it in a USB reader which is an EXTREME pain in the butt... if i don't take out the card it deletes every mp3 (i have thousands on my card) and puts them all back on again... i figure it is the S3s fault because of the MPT but as much as i LOVE MM i might have to move to another app if it will sync for me with out taking my phone all apart to get the stupid SD card out. I know i have it set up correctly because it works just fine when i take the card out.
taking my phone apart is a pain cause i have to turn it off, take it out of the otterbox case, take the back cover off, take the card out, put it in the reader, plug in and sync. i REALLY shouldn't need to take all those steps! i hope this gets fixed so i can continue to use MM.
Re: sync with samsung S3 syncs songs already on device
I think you're right about MTP being broken for Samsung devices as there are a plethora of issues surrounding sync to Samsung devices.

Re: sync with samsung S3 syncs songs already on device
Somewhat glad to find this topic. Somewhat because I'm frustrated as hell at the moment. I'm sorry, is that outside forum rules?
Anywho, I've got a S2 galaxy tab and have been trying to sync songs with MM since last evening. After it sunk songs okay out of the gate, I was feeling pretty good. That lasted until I woke up.
The USB drivers, whichever ones it auto loaded last night didn't work this morning. Thus began a day long grief with Kies??? to get "the latest" USB drivers, latest being that took one failed link the second took.
Of course, the latest means I've no longer got USB mass device option, which not sure I had that last night.
Anywho, yes, MM everytime I sync does the whole friggin thing each time, all 3000+ songs. What's the point of auto sync one has to wonder.
Of course, I've tried several other things in addition to MM, Kies flat out sucks, and Oh, let's see, doubleTwist doesn't work at all since no mass storage device option, winamp blows as well. WTF, this has be gone from liking this samsung device to really being upset. Glad it was a gift.
Oh yea, latest media monkey, I'm a paying member as well, which makes me feel pretty stupid.
Oh yea, I'm syncing to 32GB "external" memory device since it would make little sense to use the 8GB. Go ahead, someone say, well, you shouldn't be trying to put that much on an android device, I dare you
What a hellish experience for dare I say it, something that is so automatic on an i-Anything. You'd think if they wanted to eat apple's lunch, they'd at least have got this part spot on.
Oh yea, I'm a paying member of the MM community, the lifetime kind which I'm feeling none too happy about either.

Mm android is in beta so your pain might be fixed in next update release, oh wow they just released an update, try that and see, 3000 songs aint much android should handle it,
Galaxy seams to make you do hoop jumping to get things done my sister is upset with hers too it just made her reset so everything was lost as it went to default settings, maybe galaxy 3 is better? Or is that what the s3 is?
Mm shouldnt be trying to or doing a full resync of the sync list are you using wifi sync with latest mm windows version? Or the usb sync? Oh thats right you said usb drivers. Umm that takes me back to something changing on the phone making monkey see it as a new device or making it see only the small sdcard, or the small in phone storage mem..,

@ lowlander,
Yes I use autosync.
The strange thing is that my Samsung Galaxy TAB 10.1 does sync correctly.
