novice: want to grab multiple images when tagging CD
I am a complete novice to media monkey. I am only just ripping my first cds. When I tag a cd I want to grab whatever info there is including whatever album art there is. Is there a way to get all the album art (and anything else) from the very beginning?

Re: novice: want to grab multiple images when tagging CD
No, because CD lookup uses FreeDB which doesn't include album art.

And you can't tag files with Art prior to ripping.

OK. Got it. So then, after the fact of ripping and initial tagging how does one get additional images, or liner notes, lyrics, etc. and can this be done in one quick way for a given album?
Re: novice: want to grab multiple images when tagging CD
There is no quick way to do so. The build in Auto-Tag from Web can only find Album covers.

OH! Sounds primitive! So if you want to save more info you have to search "by hand" and save either in the album folder or the track folder? I guess that is it? No tricks or short cuts?

Well, you can add any image via the "Properties > Album art tab", via copy/paste, drag/drop, other methods/etc., you don't actually have to save the image to the album folder.novice wrote:OH! But I'm not aware of any web service that provides access to album art other than front cover. Certainly none that there is any MM addon that would aid in their retrieval.

Re: novice: want to grab multiple images when tagging CD
Although there is no magic way in MM (or any other tagger that I have used) .. manually using Google to search for albums and then be sure to click images normally will give you many options in sized, front, back and entire bits. I use it all the time. Though manual it is the best way to find the sizes and bits I want.

Re: novice: want to grab multiple images when tagging CD
Discogs is the only one that I know of. They normally have covers, inserts, liners, media, labels, etc. For example, Images fornohitter151 wrote: But I'm not aware of any web service that provides access to album art other than front cover. Beatles, The - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Even if I wasn't tagging a vinyl version, the pics available would be great to have. http://www.discogs.com/viewimages?release=499497
There is an addon to search discogs for tagging info, but it only pulls the main image which is normally the front cover.

Lowlander .. why is this? Wouldn't it be handy to be able to fill in all tag information when setting up to rip a cd.Lowlander wrote:And you can't tag files with Art prior to ripping.

Re: novice: want to grab multiple images when tagging CD
I too tend to like the vinyl covers especially since i have so many of the vinyl but the down side of that is that many many of the cds are not the same. They are, in a small way, an artform of their own I guess.OklahomaMike wrote:Discogs is the only one that I know of. Re: novice: want to grab multiple images when tagging CD
It would be handy and is one of the reasons I use EAC to rip (the Artwork support that is). However this is a request that has been made years ago and nothing has been done with it.
